Not a whole lot, the new skin is cool. I haven't gotten into the works of it just yet.

I hope they fixed the memory usage issues in the new version. I had to quit using v2 and go to Opera again because Firefox was just sucking up all the memory and not releasing it back to the system when the various processes were finished. It's a huge problem and the developers are aware of it. It's not so bad if you have 1GB of RAM or more but my laptop only has 512MB. Opera runs very well, uses less memory, and is faster as well.

Dave, what's the make/model of your laptop?

I'd need the actual model number. I think RAM is going pretty inexpensive lately.

Check it out. Depends on which v5000 you have, but a few of them get RAM really cheap.

Here's the actual one. http://www.memoryx.net/v5305wm.html

If you only use your laptop for internet stuff, try Freespire. You can run it from the disc without an install if you like. it has Firefox preloaded and a windows type interface. Quicktime, realplayer ,WMV codecs already installed and it should easily run with 512 mb.

I actually tried Opera last year when I read that you were using it, and I liked it fine except for me, scrolling up/down on a page seemed a lot choppier, and I quit using it again at the time. Much smoother for me in either Firefox or IE. Have you experienced the same with it?

Looks like it's based on Ubuntu, which I'm familiar with, and it's decent enough but I'll stick with Windows. It's not that big a hassle and so far, Firefox v3.0 is running fairly well.

I just tried it and there didn't seem to be any significant difference. They also have a new version out, v9.50.

Anyone played around with IE 8 Beta. I've been running it but I end up using the IE7 emulation tab quite a bit. If FireFox 3 fixes the memory problem, I'll switch over.

But Safari rocks my face off. :)

I have OPERA on my phone, Nokia PC tablet and my Nintendo WII. it,s fine for that stuff but it hangs up a little on my PC. I don't know if it's my video drivers or what but it's choppy like Rip says.

It's hellaciously hard to see anything now... without eyelids holding the ol' peepballs in place since the face is off and all.
But it never crashes or acts homoerotic. And, really, what more could we ask of technology other than those two things?

I haven't, but still hate IE7 for it's brainless layout. As with most of what M$ does these days, they take a perfectly familiar and comfortable interface and blow it to kingdom come... spreading the navigation buttons across different parts of the screen and hiding the menu bar by default was ridiculously confusing. I hate it....

One thing I hate about Firefox...When you insert a smiley, it always puts it at the end of all the text in the text box instead of where you placed the cursor. Pisses me off.

Agreed. IE 7 isn't very user friendly, for me anyway.

Unfortunately, our call tracking database at work only functions with IE so I HAVE to use it. At least you can have multiple tabs now. Saves me from having too many open windows of crap applications.

I mean, don't you ever wonder what they hell they are thinking when they come up with this stuff? IE7, Vista, Office 2007... I seriously get the impression they don't get end-user input whatsoever anymore before they design or release a product...

Well, I'm glad I'm not the only one it happens to and, unfortunately, v3.0 doesn't fix that issue.

Just as an FYI...I've used both the new version of Opera, v9.50, and Firefox 3.0 extensively this morning and Opera still seems to be much better in terms of memory usage and releasing memory back to the system. Firefox seems better but still uses considerably more memory.
