Who really discovered Arnel Pineda?

Postby Duncan » Wed Jun 18, 2008 4:56 pm

You know how Neal's line is that he was searching youtube for days trying to find a new singer? Well, am i right in thinking that clips of Arnel singing with the Zoo had been posted on this forum a number of times before he was announced as the singer. If I am right then it is more likely that Neal was looking at this site and clicked on a link.

Which one of you fine people, were first to post a clip of Arnel on here? Whoever it was i think can lay claim to discovering Journey's new singer. 8)

If it was me I'd claim an introductory fee. I think 25% of the first year earnings is the going rate

The guy who put the videos on youtube...

Postby ttango1 » Wed Jun 18, 2008 5:03 pm

is Noel Gomez. At first Pineda wasn't hip to the idea but then felt that if anything, the videos would give his fans what he calls a "remembrance" of him performing. So those links weren't here first although, they were prominently posted here with a varying difference of diametrically opposed opinions.

So if Noel didn't do what he did, then Neal wouldn't have seen Arnel Pineda and the rest is out there on tour in Europe.

That's interesting, but who first posted them on this site? I reckon Neal saw the links on here.

I read that Neal's girlfriend told him about Arnel and he checked it out. Whether she saw it here first is anyone's guess.

Here's Jeremey's take on it from an old thread.

... next thing i knew, there was no deal, and schon was scouring MR where he saw arnel mentioned. they flew him in from the phillipines and he knocked everyone dead ... so he's the new singer.

there, hope that clears things up!

Also, here's an old clip of AP doing Journey (1988).

An even older one. He looks maybe 16?

LOL...if I got upset at all the missed credits/stolen ideas over the years....well, you know...that's not why I do this anyway, so it doesn't matter :)

I don't know for sure where Arnel's name first came to the attention of others, but I do know the first time it came to mine was the many posts here. I spent some time admiring his Survivor covers and thinking Frankie could use him.

This is what I have said all along - there is NO way that it took Neal days to find Arnel on YouTube as he says. At around that time a search for Journey covers on YouTube would have brought up a Zoo band video within minutes if not seconds.

probably Neal meant he was scouring the internet for days, then he read somewhere or someone mentioned to him to look for this band(ZOO) in particular. there are a lot of journey cover videos posted on Ytube, including those with false tags and false videos(why can't Youtube do somethin about those idiots), and it would really take days even if you sit without a break.

I actually first heard of Pineda and The Zoo from Suzer via pm.
LONG before he was in.

Well it can all be traced back to Al Gore...after all, he invented the internet. So Journey needs to thank him for the Arnel discovery. 8)

I had heard that Arnel Pineda was being "wooed by Journey" as far back as November 06, prior to Steve A getting officially suicided from Journey. However!!! I might add, I do not believe that to be acurate. I simply believe that to be propaganda being thrown out by Pineda's mgr's overly agressive self promotion...

:) Let's follow the electronic chase...was it our own Tragchk? It's funny to read the remarks from these old threads and see that AP did make it to Journey. :D

I cant find this person on the memberslist so can't check his/her posts. The oldest post I have seen is the one referred to above from Tragchick. Unless anyone finds an older one Tragchick goes down in history as discovering Arnel 8)

No, that guy's a horse's ass.
I went to bat for him one time and persuaded Dean to take down a bunch of personal bashes on WingDingz and his family and he's never done anything but crap on me (and AJM for that matter).
