Been away awhile but I will come back for a serious issue. After tapegate I thought that I would not do much slumming over here, but I have got to admit when I am wrong.

Anyway, frome tapegate to Generations, to the release of JSS I was not down with this band anymore. Then I saw they were going to tour with Cheap Trick and I thought this is a show that I will go see. I purchased my tickets and our entire family is heading to Selma later next month.

Now Revelation is released. I purchased it last week and took a looooong roadie for the past three days. I admit I have not listened to any of the remakes, BUT...... the new disc is TRULY INCREDIBLE!!!! It is AWESOME!!!!!!

I play Faith In The Heartland thru song 11 OVER & OVER & OVER. There is NOT a bad song on the disc. I absoultely LOVE their new material!!!

This brings me to my real post In light of the recent flooding in Iowa and thru the midwest..... Would'nt the label be smart to make a good video of Faith depicting some of this, send the single out to stations and give a bunch of the proceeds to the victims.

It could be a WIN/WIN for EVERYONE involved.

Since a HORRIBLE situation has occured this could be a way to help the victims and also bring a deserving band back.

Its a strong song with a good message, that could do some good for some people at a bad time.

News flash genius, Faith in the heartland is not a 'new' song.

I for one, do not believe Journey has any interest in parlaying any support for middle america with Faith in the heartland, they're too busy riding the sympathy/feel-good gravy train in the northeast and california tv-show circuit for saving a poverty stricken singer from a cozy hard rock cafe night club gig in manila.

Actually if this were to happen, I think I'd prefer them to use the original version of FITH. Plus they are off on a world tour. Probably not even aware of what is going on in Iowa.

And who did they think they were fooling slipping that one onto the new disc anyway?
11 songs on each disc... nice balance at first glance... "just as many new ones as rerecorded ones... good deal..."
We all know its 10 and 12, you sneaky mofos.

I can honestly say that I like every song on the CD with the exception of FITH and Sunshower is, rather oddly, falling out of favor with me. The rest I can listen to over and over.

Change for the Better makes me want to break things over my head. I want to like it, I really do. Just can't. Sunshower is tolerable, but I see it wearing thin as well very quickly.

"Revelation" has passed the test for me. I've been listening to it basicall non-stop in my truck for several days now. That didn't happen with "Generations". The same kind of thing happened with "Arrival" but there are several more tracks on that one that I still skipped over at the time.

Thanks for honoring us with your presence here in the slum. Now go back DOWN to the Styx forum, please.

They'll play that card first. Then, they should come back to middle america. Shoot a video without any shots of the band in it.

With the exception of that city. I'll give you that one. But, no one told you to go there. :D

i think it would look like they are trying to capitalize on peoples hardships.
maybe if radio in the midwest started playing FITH, or someone cut a video for local news, it would
be more acceptable.
as for the new cd im loving just about everything, only 2 filler tracks so for, cant remember the titles, but are about tracks 8-10 maybe
i cant believe people arnt loving sunshower, my favorite on the new cd so far.
i guess it reminds me of departure stuff.

I used to have family there. They left.
And as far as all this flooding...jeez. They've been through it before, haven't they? What did they learn?

later~

Definitely. I've heard people saying "I can't get into this song". Some of the same folks were saying "Gee, I wish Journey'd rock more".

Holy Crap, this song kills.

Regarding the video, while it's a good idea, it could also be seen as cashing in, couldn't it?

So I take it YOU DON'T like Revelation? Ya know strangegrey, from the tone of your posts lately, one might think that you are a bitter, jealous bitch! :P

It would NOT be cashing in if a majority of the proceeds went to the flood victims.

The song fits the times, and it could do some REAL good right NOW!

There are several more tracks in general on Arrival. Arrival was a really good Journey album that had a few too many songs on them. Take away about three ballads and Arrival is clearly Journey's best post-Perry album.

I don't really have a "problem" with the song and it definitely rocks, but the chorus is not one of the strongest ones they have written--it feels like it is one step below this huge thing that never takes off, and just feels a little wordy.

The only issue I really have is the distorted vocals in the bridge--which I have NEVER heard actually add anything to a song, at least as a main part of a song as opposed to an intro or something. It always sounds like they are playing with technology because they can, and it doesn't matter what band does it. Thank goodness they dropped it for the live version--and the song sounds better live than it does in the studio anyways.

Bottom line....rocking for Journey, especially hard rock is great and they don't do it nearly enough. Rocking just for rock's sake doesn't make a song great on its own however. A great song is a great song regardless of the tempo--as long as you don't have an entire album of the same tempo. Nothing bad, nothing I would drop and it definitely helps keep the album uptempo, but its not the strongest on the album either.
