What If? Random musings and a hypothetical to ponder...

So, I just got back from seeing Bachman/Cummings last night (The Guess Who). Burton Cummings had a bit of an off night... he looked sick when he came out and he was visibly struggling on some of the material. With that being said, the average person probably wouldn't even know, and even me as a dedicated fan didn't care... I was just happy to have him performing for me. Why doesn't SP realize this?

And the hypothetical I just started thinking about was:

What if Perry were to re-join and Arnel were to STAY?

It could end up like a Fran Cosmo/Brad Delp Boston situation... SP's presence and signature sound still drive the fans crazy, Arnel can sing the songs that he has recorded with the band, and most importantly, Arnel and Deen are there to more than help SP with some of those high notes he might struggle with nowadays. Between those three, no note is unreachable and the whole thing sounds pretty promising to me. I know it'll never happen, but hey, what do ya think?

Sorry, that doesn't even sound like something I'd entertain in my imagination...SP share a stage? No.

Love The Guess Who - BC, a terrific voice.

Pretty sure they have, didn't Bickler, Jamison, and JP all play together recently?

It's definitely impossible, but hey, it would work from a musical standpoint I think!

The Guess Who are awesome... Randy is such an underrated guitar player, and honestly, has anyone ever heard someone that sounds like Burton? Ever? He has the most unique voice I've heard. What an underrated frontman too. Despite being a bit "off" vocally last night, he gave it his all... sweating up a storm, nailing all his piano parts, and just high energy in general.

You know Burton has a new album coming soon? Sounds good from what I've heard so far...

Cool story about Burton: My dad is a GW/BC FANATIC and he was at a BC solo show in early 86 (my mom was 7 months pregnant with me at that point), and towards the end of the show, he points my dad out (he had bought an entire row out for him and his friends) and says "Hey you there in the glasses, you know the words better than I do, I've gotta meet you." My dad ends up meeting Burton after the show and asks him to perform "Dreams," a GREAT deep cut from the GW's 70s period. Only problem? Burton doesn't remember all the words. My dad helps him along and Burton performs it for him. I musta been listening when my mom was standing there, cause I've always loved that song.

:D :D Lets think about it- then they could co-tour with Disney on the Disney on Ice goes to Hell tour. They could have hockey match against the disney characters mid concert. Of course since there would be six of them so one would have to sit on the bench at all times- when it was Ross's turn to sit on the bench everybody would thing Perry sent him off, and all the bad feelings would start again,

Nah, impractical ( too many men on the ice)

p.s - yes Ive had a beer tonight. :D

yes, and no. Both Bickler and Jamison played at the same show with Peterik, but different songs. That being said, Bickler apparently has done backing vocals on Jamison's new album, so who knows what to expect now.

Maybe he does and it just don't ante up to what he wants to live with.
Good to see that you enjoyed yourself.

The less successful bands never sold nor drew concert #'s like Journey. They still need money. Perry doesn't. He will do what he wants to do and when and if ever.

I don't think the Jboys want him anymore (despite the open invitation), jmo.
