OT: The MR. Venom Nation Radio Forum (Ver 2.0)

I was talkin to a couple people around here (a couple of lurkers, and a couple of members)......and the comment was made that maybe I should move the Venom Nation Thread down here to the JOURNEY forum, because this is, more or less, the most active forum in the place. He (Larry) was concerned that not enough people knew about the show with it being stuck up there at the top of the page in a forum few people read. The problem is this....I don't want to step on the Wombat's toes by moving down here...so if by doing so, I've...umm....done so....forgive me. But here's the deal, I'd love to get more active involvement from MelRock in Venom Nation.... So basically, a re-cap for those who know, and an introduction, for those who don't...
Venom Nation is my radio show! Well, it WAS my radio show. I've since picked up a co-host, and now it's OUR radio show. Every saturday night, for two hours, sometimes three, my Luke and Myself play the best stuff we can think of. New Rock, Classic Rock, Metal, AOR, Hair Metal, Blues, whatever..it's all there.
Here's just a few of the things we do.
# Rock In Peace - Dedicated to our dearly departed rock brethren and sisters
# Rock The Box - Which host can “rock the box” harder? The audience decides…send us an email or post your answer on the KQLZ.org Venom Nation forum!
# Kicked Up Covers - Featuring rockin (Kicked Up) covers of your classic favorites.
# Main Stage - No one Rocked the live stage like these featured artists
# MMMM (Mr. Metal's Masochistic Mayhem). Luke takes the lead and blows your mind with some hardcore stuff!
and I'm sure there will be more...
The really fun part is the "Rock the Box" segment. Each one of us picks a track, sometimes given a set of rules, sometimes just at random...and then let the listeners vote on who "rocked the box" harder. "Rock The Box" is a term coined from our email address "rockbox@venomnationradio.com".
What I'm wanting with this thread is two-fold. First, I want to encourage people to listen from here, but I also want to try and get some "inter-mingling" going on between the Pirate Radio "clique" and the "MelRock" Clique... Every saturday night during the show, Luke and I are part of "Pirate Chat" - the chat room on KQLZ.org - we discuss the show, and the stuff we play, and whatever else comes up (and usually, it's all fair game).
I'd also like to bring the Pirate "Crew" over here...I plug this site in every show....at LEAST once, if not twice or three times. I'm 'hoping' (fingers crossed) that maybe we can get some of the new artists that Andrew's working with and get them on the air and get them some exposure (we have pretty good listenership). Note, I don't have any confirmation that will or won't happen, but I'm just "wishing" here.
On a side note...I should also point out....that my JSS "Fan-dom" has FINALLY paid off. For months I've promoted JSS on the air...I've played his music...and it's been my goal to "bring JSS to Pirate Radio"....and I think within the next few weeks, I'll have done that....so...... (Ask Ms. Sunshine....she'll tell ya the lengths to which I've gone to promote him on our show).
Anyway.... the show is broadcast every saturday night. It's hosted by me (Steve-O....AKA "The Vicar of Venom") and Luke (AKA "Metal Thrashin Mad"). It's on at 10PM Eastern, 7PM Pacific.....and runs for two hours. You can stream the show live and join us in Pirate Chat by signing up at http://www.kqlz.org - you can stream with Winamp, Real Player, or Windows Media Player (or whatever player you have that interprets the streams of those types). It is our INTENTION to make available the archives of the past shows for download, though due to web server struggles (we can't find one we like that's within our price range and let's us host the files). In due time (and probably short-time). The shows that are new on saturday night, repeat on the following saturday morning in the 10AM eastern , 7AM Pacific time slot... except for special occasions.... like the next two weeks
Per the schedule Normally followed....the Saturday morning time-slot for "Venom Nation" is alloted for a repeat of the previous Saturday's PM show. June 28th would NORMALLY air the June 21st show at 7AM PT -
The show that happened on the 21st in the evening was 'technologically" horrible....it wasn't anybody's fault but mine. Not Pirate Radio's, and certainly not Luke's (my co-host). It was just poor production and poor mixing on my part and it just sucked... So, I (and I say "I" because it's just ME on this one) made the "executive decision" to NOT let that show go on the air again. Sorry to those of you who didnt' catch it saturday night, but sorry, you didn't miss much. We had a great show...but technically, it just wasn't right.
SO. ONE TIME ONLY....Pirate Radio listeners can literally WAKE UP with the Venom Nation. ...By myself, without Luke (He'll be asleep..) I'm going to do a one-off, one time only show, JUST for the Morning listeners at Pirate Radio. As if that's not cool enough, we're doing ANOTHER brand new show that night...7 PM Pacific.....with both Luke AND Me...with all the pre-requisites..Rock the Box....Rock In Peace..Kicked up Covers...the whole deal!
Here's the tentative plan for the next two shows.. (yeah, copied and pasted board promos from KQLZ)
June 28: Guns N Roses, Extreme, Jorn, Alice Cooper, Mr. Metal's Masochistic Mayhem, Kicked up covers, Rock In Peace, and "Rock The Box" - Debut's at 7PM (pt) 6-28, Repeats 7-12 -7AM (pt)
July 5: Venom Nation's All American Fourth of July Weekend Bash - A THREE HOUR SPECIAL. ONE DAY ONLY. This show will air at both 7AM AND 7PM on July 5, and will not repeat! The show features all American bands, "Main Stage", The Venom Nation "Tour of America", and a "Rock The Box" you DON'T want to miss (with a special guest....three participants...the rules are being written as we speak and we're betting it's gonna be a CLOSE one!!)
Anyway - thanks to all of you who listen...and to the new listeners who might start...and to Andrew for not banning me for doing this against what might be his wishes. (Blame Larry...LOL)

, however, Joey Belladonna is playing locally that night and I'm still undecided about going.
