Arnel, his girlfriend and their baby (and I think his other kids), with friends while on vacation prior to coming to the US for their European Tour (I think). For those who want to have a glimpse of his family.

Maybe it's just me but I can't help but feel that these pictures are a gross invasion of the man's private life. I don't think the person who posted these got authorization from the people in the pics. Posting pics of Arnel is fair game but his family are not public figures and they should be off limits.

I mean let's face it, kidnap for ransom is not exactly a rare occurence in the old country. Posting the pictures of the wife and kid needlessly increased the risk they face.

I can say that his girl doesn't mind the extra pub and that she supports Arnel any way that she can. She remembers the "lean years" and talks about Arnel and his newfound success with Journey. People want to know about him but at the same time, it ain't crazy papparazi-like like it is in Hollywood.

Looking at the profile, it seems like it is HER. Yes, Arnel's significant other that posted that touching vid.

This statement right here:
maraming salamat po sa lahat ng sumusuporta all through these years..

That literally translates as, Thank you very much all for your support all through these years.

E.. Si Che nama n 'ata mismo ang nag-post ng pics, so okay lang.
(Errrm... Looks like it was Cherry herself who posted the pics, so it's cool)
:)

Two coments of my own...

1. There are different customs/standards on personal privacy in different parts of the world.
The casual ease with which folks here can walk up to Arnel and vice versa might clue folks in
on that.

2. Kidnappings are indeed part of living here, but so is watching your friend's back.
Arnel hasn't forotten his roots, and frankly, many of his neighbors and old friends are
folks no one would want to piss off. That no one in the Philippines could see an upside to harming
Arnel's family ....might clue the hoity-toities who DO get targetted for kidnapping, in to the value
of staying grounded, and living not as a walled-off elite, but as humble members of a community,
regardless of how much money they have.

Cheers,

Very nice pics. Arnel has a really cute smile and seemed well-grounded. I'm sure he deserves everything he can get out of this deal with Journey.

My bad then if Arnel's gf posted the vid. I'm anything but happy for them. They deserve all the rewards of Arnel's success after all the hard years. But as a fan, I'd gladly forego being able to see the photos if it means better security for them.

I grew up just across the estero (i.e. creek) from Kamuning where Arnel lives now so I do know that they probably have enough of a neighborhood-based early warning system there (in the form of inquisitive, protective neighbors) if some suspicious characters show up.

Still, I personally know two people who have been kidnapped (and thankfully lived to tell the tale) and no band of neighborhood toughs will stop a determined kidnap gang. I mean these guys are armed with assault rifles and some (not all!) are even active-duty bad apples from the military and police.

Well, enough on this unpleasant topic from me. Sorry if I ruined some people's days by raising it.
