Jericho Heading To The Big Screen?
By WENN, June 26 2008
U.S. TV drama JERICHO could be heading to the big screen, according to the show's stars ASHLEY SCOTT and BRAD BEYER.
The series - a portrayal of America post-nuclear attacks - was axed by network CBS in March (08) after a small, devoted group of fans begged TV bosses to green light a second series last year (07).
But now supporters of the programme could be in for a treat if movie bosses give the go ahead for a film version of the show.
And Scott insists that she, and her co-star Brad Beyer, would both be interested in signing on to the project.
She says, "We caught wind of a possible movie idea, which we thought was really good. I think Brad had heard about it online the other day, and I just heard tonight, and I thought that would be really wonderful, wouldn't it? Kind of put a closing on it."
Beyer adds, "We kind of feel like it needs some closure, because it still feels kind of weird. I mean, we didn't get to a whole second season. ... I think you can do a lot more with it. I think there's a lot of different ways you can go with the story."

I got all screwed up this morning when I saw Rhiannon's new avatar. I went with 2 eyes but thought that was too gay considering they were female eyes. I switched to Tia Carrere for a minute then I thought too sexist so now I will go with the deformed Koala until I can find something else. Oh and I forgot about the tasmanian Devil one , that just wasn't happening for me so he got axed. When I get home I'll have look and see what I come up with for Tommorrow.

This show already defied the odds and got a second chance at life after being initially cancelled - and got cancelled again.
Any attempt at a movie revival would prolly fare as well as Joss Whedon's Firefly movie, "Serenity."
There are far more deserving shows that have been lining the TV graveyard alot longer than this one.
For one, the original producer of "Sliders" has been trying to reboot the show as a movie for years now - the same way he took his failed Naked Gun TV series and turned it into a wildly succesful film franchise.

While those numbers are hardly Lucas-esque, there pretty damn good for a show that onlygot half a season from FOX (whom, by the by, FUCKED Joss Whedon on that show! They refused to show the pilot episode FIRST - go figure THAT strategy- and then they switched the nights of the show every week, so no one ever knew when it was on. To top it all off, they canned it and abondened the last four or five episodes. It was a DAMN fine show!

Haven't seen it.
I believe it was Whedon himself who claimed the paltry domestic box office take put the kebosh on his franchise plans.
When it comes to unappreciated sci-fi shows axed before their time, Firefly is in good company.

True that! I have no idea why Whedon would EVER do another show for Fox after the lousy way they treated FIREFLY, but here he comes again with DOLLHOUSE. Some folks never learn, I suppose...

Remains to be seen. I think he said he was willing to give it a shot because it was a whole new set of suits at the network these days compared to when he did FIREFLY.
On the SERENITY topic, part of the issue I had with that movie was how they marketed it. The commercials I saw did very little to capture the essence and feel of the show, leaving the audience who was unfamiliar with the story kind of bewildered.

Perhaps, from a marketing standpoint...but the folks I know who saw the film and had never ssen the SHOW really loved the movie anyway, and quite of few of them went out and bought the dvd set as a result.
I hope you're right about the brass at FOX, but I'll belive it when I see the show make it beyond mid season. Guys like Whedon and Greenwalt have been mercilously fucked by that network, and I find it hard to believe they keep coming back for more.
