"Friday, July 25 - Journey (San Antonio, Texas) broadcasting live on the CBS Morning Show"

Hey thanks, RocknRoll. I'm going to find out where they'll be that morning. That'll be two shows in one day. Cool. :D

Probably at the same venue. Chicago just did it last weekend. Get up early, they performed I believe in the 5 am hour locally.
Pretty tough, considering they played later in the night their regular concert.

Hope Arnel gets some good advice on how to prep and maintain his voice for this early AM appearance.

JSS's observation about SA's early morning CBS performance is prescient: it'd be easier on your voice to stay up all night than get up at 4 am or 5 am and try to prep your vocal chords.

Dang. 5AM. Do they have a show the night before? That'd suck!

I was just going to say that, then I read this. It will be interesting to see how the band handles it.

The timing for this couldn't be worse. That Friday morning marks day one of back to back to back shows (Fri, Sat, Sun). Couple that with this early morning shit and you're playing with fire.

Couldn't disagrere more. Perry was treated like a king...given his own tour bus and wasn't obliged to meet fans after gigs. He was also given 2 years off between Frontiers and ROR and 12 years between ROR and TBF. Seems awfully fair to me. Besides, look at Perry's solo tour. His schedule was absolutely ridiculous...and it couldn't be blamed on Journey, either. Here's an example...5 shows in a row at one point and 11 shows in 14 days, and he wonders why he can't sing anymore.

Nov. 14, 1994 Albany, NY Sass Jordan
Nov. 15, 1994 Massey Hall, Toronto, ONT Sass Jordan
Nov. 16, 1994 Tower Theater, Philadelphia Upper Darby, PA Sass Jordan
Nov. 17, 1994 Central Maine Civic Center. Lewiston, ME Sass Jordan
Nov. 18, 1994 Orpheum Theater. Boston, Ma Sass Jordan
Nov. 20, 1994 Hershey Park Arena. Hershey, PA Sass Jordan
Nov. 22, 1994 Fox Theater. Atlanta, GA Sass Jordan
Nov. 23, 1994 Jacksonville, FL Sass Jordan

Actually, if it's just a few songs, it might be a good warm up for him.

HOLY CRAP! How could Perry even THINK he could do that many shows in a row, especially in 94??? WHAT was he thinking? Wasn't the whole 'my own bus thing' during Frontiers and beyond? Seems like the Journey shows, which were arguably harder because the songs were in the original keys, were also bam bam bam after another. I can't remember, but I remember looking at the Escape tour and just thinking "wow, no wonder".

Augeri could have stepped away at any time he wanted to. Besides, after his second or third tour it was obvious he wasn't good enough for anything other than to tour the Dirty Dozen and that's what they did. The fact that they didn't replace him should leave him forever indebted to them. He basically made millions more than he really should have because they were so loyal and stuck with him.

Sure. It wouldn't be THE night gig warm up, but it would get him rolling for that warmup. He'll just need to keep it in shape throughout the day and drink lots and lots of water.

If you do the math and figure Augeri made the reputed 8-10K per show, + payment for services renedered in-studio, the Coney Island Cowboy's probly not under the boardwalk beaneath Nathan's Famous fighting the seaguls for hot dog and french fry scraps.
Dude made a LOT of jack.

He toured 7 times in 8 years I believe. The 4 or so extra tours from the time it was obvious the lineup wasn't going to ever take off til his end probably netted him about 250 extra gigs...at least. Multiply 250 times the approximate $10,000 he made per show and you have approximately 2.5 million dollars. Simple math, folks.

Factor in the probable 6-figure (at LEAST) settlement and he's another kid from Brooklyn made good ala Joseph Vincent Paterno.

10,000 PER SHOW? SERIOUSLY? I have a hard time believing he made that much per gig. Is that documented anywhere? Just asking, not challenging you, just wonderin' where the figure came from.

I wanna say Journey usually commanded about $90,000 per show and the band members each split up around $50,000. Selling his 1/5th equal share had to net a pretty penny as well. And that's on top of his "hush money"...which was 6 figures. Very low 6 figures, though.

My guess would be that each member would take about half of that...say $5000 per show.
