I really see at least one more Arnel-fronted album and at least five more years of touring.
After that, I think the guys will go their....wait for it...separate ways and do individual projects. By that time Jon and Ross will be in their 60s - not sure they would want to keep up the touring pace (but that is just speculation).

Oh, I don't know. Something tells me REO will tour if they have to come out in walkers! I expect JSS will tour until he's 104. Matchbox 20....well, they'll still be kicking! Journey may say "adios" but Neal will still be shreding in his nursing home!

Now that is the quote of the week.
Let's just all enjoy the music
and a good discussion now and then. Most of us aren't getting any younger either

And I still think I'm 16 half the time.

Definately better than the alternative. Your mind is what keeps you young/

i used to think no way until the last couple years about rockers playing at an older age.your right though about B.B. king, the rolling stones, aerosmith, rush, alice cooper, plant touring with krauss, the who putting out new music.i think gene simmons will be 60 himself this year and he goes on stage in a foot long heavy ass platform boots and all kinds of weight but he still runs and jumps around like a 30 year old.just seeing these people do this to me shatters my image of what i used to think of a 60 year old person being like.

Why, when all these bands from the 70's and 80's are making more money than ever, would they ALL suddenly up and retire within the next five years? Arnel just turned 40. Neal is a young 53. Jack Blades of Night Ranger has more passion and fire on stage than he did when he was 28. The list goes on and on.

While this may be true, it isn't because the quality of the music is leaps and bounds better. Well, maybe the production technology is....but since CDs costs, and concert costs are more....saying that they are 'making more money than ever', has to be qualified. That's why i always laugh at the stories that movie such-and-such has broken some sort of record. Ummm...no it didn't if you went by ticket sales, instead of gross $$, the movie would've failed miserably....and it is the same with today's music.

Especially if they're turning out Gold releases like they did with Revelation (which could wind up Platinum if the US tour provides it the bump I think it will)

Kind of arbitrary numbers here.
Journey is making FAR more per CD - try three times as much in pure profit - than they did in the 80's. And they're pulling in twice as much per show as they did in their heydey (profit per ticket).

I'm not sure I buy that...especially if you're compaing 21st century dollars to 1980's dollars. I'm betting that they made a hell of alot more in their heyday.

Rehab, the old folks home, or just sitting back like the Steve Perry and collecting the royleties .I picture Friga having his winery, and havin a private hot tub section added to it,with all his solo efforts piped in 24/7,and having organic smoothes with little umbreallas on top the pear shaped glasses that he created. The whale will be an oxygen bar with my avaitar on top dedicated to me after I was found missing.

They're getting a lot of the cut that would have went to Sony back in the day going to their pockets directly now
