Steve Perry's feelings on Journey chart success

How do you think Steve Perry feels about Journey's newfound chart success? Since Steve's Departure (ouch) from the band, Journey have toured relentlessy, usually attracting decent attendance figures, and have regained a decent foothold in Europe. However, Journey has pretty much flown under the radar in terms of American chart success, until now. Steve has, at times, has also made some less than flattering remarks about his ex - bandmate's efforts to carry the torch without him - mentioning the hiring of 'sound - alike' singers and stating that he does not know the names of the singers who have fronted the band since he left. He must surely know the name of Arnel at his point. I remember reading an article, just after TBF was released, in which Steve was quoted as saying something along the lines of 'when I got the call that the album had gone into the charts at number 3, I was jumping for joy around my office.' Now, for the first time, Steve is seeing Journey riding high in the Billboard charts, without him at the helm. How do you suppose he feels about this - envious? Indifferent? Happy for Neal and co? Discuss.

If he listens to radio and AATY or WDILYL comes on, I think he'd like it. They are good songs after all.

What was it officially
10 years ago in May?
I think he had to get used to the fact
that Journey would have other singers
I don't think he wants to waste his time
muddling in the murky waters of Journey.
Do you really think that the median population
know the difference between SA JSS or AR?
For a large part of the audience dropped put after the first breakup
Gosh a generation has past
I bet there are still those that don't know SP is not still in the band.
Some people do not haunt Journey boards & take everything they do to heart.
Only the faithful!
But I bet there are moments
when he hurts
OMG
What do you think he must feel?
That time was perhaps the biggest part of his life.
Still I can't fathom him at this point doing those tours.
there's no way.
I think he's seems happy & content with his life
away from the road & ratrace
which was a very big part of his life
He had climbed the mountain
Made it to the top
worked really hard
gave it all that he'd got
I think by now
he really tries not to spend time
thinking about Journey.
Think he keep his distance
& lets his people handle it.
However I bet he did not like that they re-recorded the classics.
The same tunes which through his sweat & sacrifice brought to the hearts of the fans
He worked so hard on them more recently polishing them so that they really were brilliant.
The songs are like children
now Journey has silenced them & given them another voice.
I don't mean performance voice
I mean taken those songs which they had made together
& recorded them with another singer.
Sorry but that's seems low.
I don't like it & sorry I won't buy it but I also know
that it's a tactical business move & there's no room for sentiment in the formula
I'm grateful that JSS got his chance to take that stage
& was forunate to have been pardoned
before they damaged that brilliant voice & quelled his heart.

Just for you...
This is a poem....
well sort of
A quicky
just to wet the appetite
don't get me started
as I can be wicked
when I work between
the hands of time
See
I told you
I can't stop...
JSS was the lucky one
A voice worthy to reach for the stars
Willing to give the ultimate sacrifice
but the hand of fate would stop
before they drained him dry
& ripped his heart out.

Dont think so. I think he has a life that is full of alot of good things and not a life full of regrets. He has probably forgiven and forgotten, unlike others.

What chart success? are we talking about the success they had in 1981? or 1996? nothing since then has remotely had any solid success.

Funny...I was wondering the same thing. This guy is talking like Journey has a number one album on the hot 100 Billboard charts, and it's nowhere close!

I think SP actually avoids news regarding Journey. Like was said earlier, the spike in sales of their earlier albums is probably putting some extra money in his pockets, so he has to know things are going well.
I just had the strangest feeling of dejavu.

Sorta like when Drew had those server meltdowns. That was a hilarious few days.
People debating posts that had disappeared only to reappear differently.

Depends on which chart you're looking at...but overall Revelation has done amazingly well..no matter what chart it is. I suspect it will continue to do well with the tour starting and more TV and radio appearances.

I wanted to fly down to Florida and choke someone. That was a mess. It's running great now though.
