Journey in Council Bluffs, IA

In a bit of a predicament here...I really want to go see Journey on July 22 and the Mid-America Center in Council Bluffs, IA. I live in North Dakota so it's an 8 hour drive, but its still the closest that the full tour will be coming to me.

The 5 star VIP tix are only $225 each, but there's one problem - my parents wont let me go.

Any ideas? suggestions? I'm thinking the only way I would get to go is if the band would literally come and pick me up, since they seem to have a problem with me driving long distances even though I've had my license for 3 years and haven't had any driving issues.

Maybe just a phone call would do? Come on Neal, give the parents a call!

Any way I'm starting to lose hope but I will post what happens.

My parents kept me from going to the 1981 Houston show. I still resent that to this day. :(

Steve Perry was kind enough to put it on a DVD for you though. ;)

My parents let me drive from San Fran to Pasadena to see Stanford/Ohio State in The Rose Bowl back in 71...in a PINTO no less...

My folks were/are way cool... :D

Did we all drive a Pinto? I went through a Pinto, a Vega, a '68 Dodge Charger. My first car was a '65 bright red Dodge Dart. The color was the only thing that kept it from being a granny car.

didn't run worth a crap though, people thought it sounded cool, only because it had a hole in the exhaust pipe.

Convince one or both parents to go...

I've had some really great times on the road to concerts with one or more of my sons. Headed for opening night in Denver with one of them tomorrow, in fact. :D

For some reason, I can clearly picture this.
Compact or wagon? Probably no a/c. But if this was Jan, then it wasn't necessary.
Probably the road trip of a life time, MT. Got pics?

Greyhound bus? It sucks total ass but you leave the driving to them and maybe your folks will allow it.

Are you over 18? Do you live on your own and completely support yourself? If you're over 18 but your parents are still footing your bills, you don't have much of a choice but to listen to them. If you're completely independent (as in not living with your parents and not having them pay ANY of your bills), you don't need to ask permission. When I was 19, I flew to Arizona by myself to visit my boyfriend. I didn't ask permission, even though I was living at home with my dad. I just told him I was going. He was pissed that he had to pick me up from the airport. However, I paid for the trip myself and I was working full time.

I know, see I just don't want to be resentful in the future!

Anyway I am still 17, although I did graduate already, so yes they do have full control over me if they wish so I might just be out of luck.

They say they would have no problem with me flying (which would be about $900), but it's just the driving that bothers them. The greyhound probably wouldn't work because it would mean an extra night in Council Bluffs.

That's what I usually do but it's the drive that scares them away this time. They both like Journey & Heart but they aren't big enough fans to want to go see them at such a distance.

Yo, Weatherman! I have another friend attending this show, and it's too bad it's not working out for you to attend. You'd have some cool peeps to hang with.

When I went to the show in 81, my classmates brother was supposed to be looking out for us since he was 18, which he did.
He dropped the coin for the dime bag we were pufffing at the show :D

I'm actually going to be coming BACK from Council Bluffs the day of the show, or I would be your chaperone! ;) What about the Target Center show in Minneapolis? Would that be closer for you....it's Sept 16th, but I think it's just Journey and Cheap Trick...no Heart.

Holy shit. I had this furry black rug stuff on my front dash, back window and arm rests on my 64 Impala. What a car. What a stereo. Craig Powerplay 8 track. Upgraded from Craig Powerplay speakers to Jensen Triaxs. Then to Triax II's. Oh baby. I loved that car.

Awww...

Well the Target Center is closer to me but there's no Heart, so that kind of takes away from it. But if Council Bluffs doesn't work out, I will definitely be trying for Minneapolis!
