Could've been a lot worse. Luckily no bands were playing when it came down.

The frontpage item was online a couple of hours before I read the board. I was just pointing out that there was additional reports to be read.

I was kidding with you, man... haha!

I honestly haven't read the full reports yet. Is there any chance that people just mistook Dokken for a tornado when they blew everyone away?

My Mom, Stepdad & two brothers used to live in Pryor when I was a teenager. I would ride the bus up there from McAlester every odd month or so for a visit. I loved it up there. We would go fishing at the Grand River 'low water' dam. Just beautiful. There is a street in that town called Coo Y Yah. Don't know how I remember that some 30+ years later, but I do. I think that was a Caucasian persons attempt at spelling a Native American word. It ran right through a park where we would go picnicking. I remember looking across the pond at the park and some guy was waxing his car and his stereo was playing "Feels So Good" by Chuck Mangione. Was the first time I had ever heard it. The sound of that flugelhorn was incredible. Great, great times those days were.

Sad to see the tragedy happen up there. Especially the death from heat exhaustion. Oklahoma weather is very unpredictable.

Hearing about the intense heat and the mud last year was enough to steer me clear of the event, Rick. And after hearing about this time, I'm thinking it's not my type of venue.

Speaking of heat, what are you anticipating for Dallas next week?

That may honestly be the funniest fuckin' post I've read all year.

BTW-I just joined Melodic Rock Extra...and Fucking LOVE it!!! I've been listening to the Roxy Blue album all weekend, what a trip back in time. If this is any indication of what to expect from MR Xtra, you've got a customer for life!

Dude, PLEASE.... All they would have had to do to avoid any setbacks was let Dokken headline on the last day. Wouldn't have mattered if they destroyed the stage then or not...

Remember the prophetic words of Don from Rocklahoma last year (see my signature line). I think it was an omen of things to come...

I would have to say that I saw Don Dokken open for Poison on the Flesh and Blood tour (my first rock concert) and I was freakin' that they wouldn't be able to top him. Then I got to see Dokken (w/Reb Beach) in the middle slot after Cinderella (who was also awesome) years later and they were awesome again. Love seeing them live..never owned a CD don't care too, but love 'em live...

..always wondered why they were *always* opening up for Poison...sorry, just f'in with ya Rip!:)

Right on, man! Glad you enjoyed the show, and also, welcome to the board!

Well, Dokken will never headline on a bill with Poison because Poison enjoyed far more mainstream success, but they aren't anywhere near as talented, and their songs aren't nearly as good as Dokken's.

It's been in the upper 90's for a good while now, so I don't expect it to be much different. Maybe a degree or two warmer or cooler. Bring one of those misting fans, it's going to be a hot one.

Guess that officially clears that up. Funny Rip when you called into the weather station isnt that exactly what the meteorologists told ya?

Was I correct in reading that the Lynch Mob was the first up to play after this?

You are correct, Perrydise, so no one can say they weren't warned. The report went something like, "If your feet aren't nailed to the ground, you might want to steer clear of Rocklahoma today because Hurricane Dokken is blowing thru town at winds of up to 250mph... If you can't handle the rock, seek shelter immediately and stay tuned to this channel for further updates. And that giant sucking sound you hear? No, you are not in the middle of a tornado -- that's Poison on the other stage!"

Haha...just saw Poison on Saturday - they were actually pretty good. Rip - you're Dokkendales avatar really is quite impressive. It almost needs its own thread.
