ZVUE Launches Retail Promo With Rock Legend Journey
Pre-Loaded MP3 Player With Music From Journey's New Double-CD to be Carried at Wal-Mart
SAN FRANCISCO — ZVUE Corporation (NASDAQ:ZVUE), a global digital entertainment company, today announced that ZVUE will be selling an exclusive MP3 Player pre-loaded with all 22 tracks from the new Journey double-CD, "Revelation". The Journey-branded player will be available exclusively in 3,600 Wal-Mart stores nationwide beginning July 22. The product retails for $39.88 and will be presented in gift-box packaging, designed to feature Journey with their new lead singer Arnel Pineda.

Each disc of the double-CD will feature 11 tracks; one will feature brand new material from the band while the other will feature re-recorded classic Journey hits.

The Journey-branded MP3 player comes with high-quality ZVUE Sound Headphones, 3 ft. USB Cable and 1 GB of built-in memory, which will allow customers to augment the Journey music with several hundred additional tracks of their choosing.

"We are excited about partnering with one of the greatest rock bands in history and continuing to work with Wal-Mart to provide exciting ways for customers to enjoy new and classic music. This is the second pre-loaded MP3 player to be distributed by Wal-Mart this month alone," said Jeff Oscodar, ZVUE President and CEO. "The Journey-branded MP3 player offers great value and will provide generations of customers with many hours of listening enjoyment."

I'm almost positive that each ZVUE sold will count as an album sold. So, each mp3 player = 1 album sold = 2 CDs sold.

Think about how many mp3 players will sell at Christmas time ...... At this pricepoint, you can buy it just for the mp3 player and ditch the Journey tunes.

So .... still think this album won't go platinum x 2?

You can bet there'll be another Wal-Mart promotional in-store flyer with the mp3 player (and Journey) prominently featured.

Because of this new pre-loaded mp3 player and the concert tour, I'm really curious to see what the album sales look like from the end of July to the beginning of September. 'Revelation' could find itself going back up the charts, or at least holding steady in the top 20 .....

Funny this is, I bet this will draw a "more mature" crowd into purchasing an mp3 player who had not previously owned one at all. (I wonder how many Journey fans will buy this 'Revelation'-pre-loaded mp3 player, and then put nothing but Journey tunes on it? ..... )

But for you, SJ, we can come up with a 1976 Gremlin with an 8-track player, pre-loaded with "Infinity" ......

If it comes in that funky red, white and blue they better throw in some tracks from C.W. McCall just to guarantee no returns.

Wow, no kidding? I was gonna ask you if you were having a certain problem with that thing that I have, and see if you had it to.
So um, nevermind I guess.

As for this Journey thing. Meh. Whatever.
Do this, instead of dropping $40 for 10 new songs and 12 you already own (LOL!) get your self a 2 gb iPod Shuffle for $50, it will just about hold the entire Journey catalog from '75 to '08. And Captured. 8)

The clip on shuffle is great for exercising and jogging. You don't even notice it.

Most of the "seniors" that fall under the original Journey fanbase are people between ABOUT 37 and 50. That's figuring the average concert going teenager** (16-18 ) between '78 and '86... these are, for the very most part, people who can certainly use computers and mp3 players.

**stats based on my own family, all of whom except me have seen Journey with Perry at different points in his tenure, and who now range between 37 and 50.

I didn't tell you about me and Keith being knee-deep in the trash bags last Wednesday? (He threw out the receipt in a McDonald's bag!) Yep. First of all, it wouldn't hold a charge for longer than two solid hours of play (fully charged in the AM, played for 45 mins on my morning communte, and 1:15 on the evenings, by the time I got home... DEAD). So I went to plug it in to charge it before I took it back (to exchange it, since I figured ok, bum battery) and to restore it to factory settings. When I plugged it in it said "this device has been corrupted". Damn. Took that sumbitch back, got my money, and figured I'd wait until I get that company iPhone. Does the same thing. :)

just how old do you have to be to not want to own an mp3 player until this? My mom is 65 and she has made the digital transition. in fact, she did it before I did!!
