Anyone seeing DARK KNIGHT tomorrow (or at Midnight tonight?
I was actually gonna try to see a midnight showing tonight, but they are ALL SOLD OUT (over 25 showings I checked out) Even the crap theatres have sold out their midnight shows. I think this movie will make a bizillion dollars this weekend! I do believe the summer box office king has just entered the building!

All I do is create graphs and analyze stats all day. It's nice to pop in here, make a comment and be greeted by something that isn't a number.

There are grown people on AICnews.com that are saying Ledger's Joker is literally giving them nightmares.

Best superhero film ever made and best picture oscar for 2008 are also mentioned, as is Ledger's best actor being a shoe-in.

Last year, my wife and I went to see HP: order of the phoenix at the local IMAX and it was VERY difficult to watch. On a normal wide aspect screen, when you look at two characters talking to eachother, one on either side of the screen, all you have to do is look forward.

On Imax, the same scenario is left and right. You literally have to turn your head to the right to see something happening on the right side of the screen and turn your head left to see the same thing left. It was so disturbing to watch that I was dizzy walking out of the place.

and I'm fairly sure that the dizziness wasn't caused by the bottle of wine we consumed prior to the movie!

Regardless, it's tough to watch an action film on IMAX.



Having said all of that, I AM SO there with this movie. I can't wait. I thought Batman Begins was one of the greatest movies ever...this one looks so cool.

Only two movies have ever given me nightmares - The Exorcist and Burnt Offerings. And both were very long ago.

I've only ever been to an IMAX once and I don't even remember what it was like. (I was 11 and it was on a summer trip in Gatlinburg, TN...) Don't the seats move at some of them? Where am I getting that from? Ah, well. Thanks for the warning, though. I bet that bottle of wine had nothing to do with it.
My friend's boyfriend went to the midnight showing last night and apparently it blew his mind... and he's one of these HUGE comic people. I'm REALLY looking forward to seeing it.

It depends on the theater. If its a regular movie (not one designed for Imax) and they don't project it to the full format of the Imax screen its not that bad. I saw Interview with a Vampire that way. The ran it huge but not to the full screen size and it was pretty cool.

The tix are a done deal though, so Imax it is. Maybe we should bring dramamine.

Joker did not give me nightmares, but it was a great character....

With a little hindsight, if anything the film may have been a bit too intense...

But OH MY GOD!!! What a great film...I'd hand Heath Ledger an ocsar right now if it were up to me! And Aaron Eckhart? Brilliant!!! Great movie!

ps- to all the haters who say Heath would only get a nod cause he's no longer with us, and that's the "kinda shit the academy does"? Only ONE posthumous oscar has EVER been given for acting and that was in the 70's (The WELL DESERVED Oscar Peter Finch got for NETWORK) So the odds are actually against him getting it. I hope he does, cause this performance, to me, is the stuff of legend. And I've been in the acting game for almost 30 years, so I know a little sumpin' bout it, if I do say so myself.

I am pumped to see this. Only 3 1/2 hours...

Wow, I thought I was the only one who felt that way about Burnt Offerings. I saw it as a kid and to this day I think about it. I never watched it again. I DVR'd it about a month ago to show my kids, who love scary movies. But then I decided against t and deleted it before watching. I can't wait to see Dark Knight.

18 months. Last time we took him was about a month ago. He was fast asleep halfway through Kung Fu Panda. It worked out pretty well. We stowed all the seats in the floor so he had a blast playing in the back whenever he wanted. The Dark Knight isn't scheduled to start til around 11:35. So I'm pretty sure he'll be crashed out pretty hard! Now I'm getting all geeked for it and I'm not a DC guy at all.

Are you gonna hide him in the trunk or is he young enough to get in for free?

It's a Chrysler Town & Country van. (no trunk) He gets in for free. Although he is small enough to fit into the "stow and go" areas. Seriously though when he gets a bit older we may have to smuggle him in there. When he's old enough to know to keep quiet.
