OT: Chalfant 2.0

Postby Rip Rokken » Thu Jul 24, 2008 11:52 pm

I don't know where I got this idea, but for some reason when The Storm first came out I used to think Kevin Chalfant was British. So I meet the guy last week after also being blown away by his set at Journey To The Cure, and he's just the coolest, nicest dude... I buy a promo 8x10 for him to sign, and he writes "Let's Rock Again", and suddenly I get a mental image of a David Coverdale-esque version of Chalfant, saying "Let's rawk agayne", maybe even holding up a bejeweled goblet of red wine!

Now imagine a repackaged Chalfant in that manner (or maybe in an alternate universe), and how cool that would be? He would have a British accent (hey, if Madonna or Britney can swap, why can't he?), we'd get him knighted by the Queen so he'd be Sir Kevin Chalfant (or maybe even Lord Kevin), and his logo would be some sort of crest with dragons on it and a big sword running thru the middle. Maybe even with some Latin text -- Whitesnake does "Serpens Albus" -- his might say "Rockus Magnus". I do have a sneaking suspicion that Kevin has slain a few dragons, which is why we never see them flying around anymore. Anyone that cool must have killed at least one dragon.

I also bought his "Fly 2 Freedom" CD and really wish I'd also picked up his other solo album he had -- I think I'm going to order it now. Can't wait to see these guys play again.

You've been hitting the sauce again haven't you!??? That was funny as hell. He probably did slay some "ladies" back in the day!

I've got a funny story on the "Storm front". I was in talks with Josh Ramos a couple of years ago to work on my solo album, and we talked quite reqularly over the phone (couldn't ask for a nicer, more down-to-earth guy!). I told him I'd found a Storm cd single in a record store with the song "Show Me The Way". It happens to be my favorite Storm song, but this version is the AC version and they've removed almost ALL guitar from the song! When I told him about this...he'd never heard it! I sent him a copy of it, and he was cracking up that there's versions of his songs out there that he's never even heard.
The artist formerly known as Jim. :-)

running with the wind is an excellent cd
a little(just a little)softer but still very mid tempo.

LOL! I was close, but I predicted the first response would be someone would ask me if I'd been smoking crack, not drinking.... haha!

Very cool story about Josh Ramos! Maybe I'll meet him someday and get his signature on my Storm CD along with Kevin's.

Until then, "Let's rawk AGAYNE!!!!"

Good grief... now for some reason, a picture of Errol Flynn as Robin Hood laughing merrily with a twinkle in his eye just popped into my mind... MUST STOP THINKING!!!!! NOT what I had in mind for Chalfant 2.0....

yep...great cd. Just don't expect it to sound much like Journey other than the pitch of Chalfant's voice. Bryan Adams or something is much closer.
