I will start with the lowlights of last nights SA show:
1. Cheap Trick - they sounded OK at best and didnt play Voices, Gonna Raise Hell or Aint That A Shame.
2. ME dogging Heart. The Wilson Sisters and Heart sounded GREAT. They had by far the best sound of the night. I am a TOTAL IDIOT for EVER getting on them. The fat sister sounded as good or better than ever. They were GREAT.
3. Journeys sound - From where we were their sound was uneven hi then low/ in & out. They were great but their sound guys were not.
4. Journey NOT playing 'What I Needed'. This is one of the FINEST songs that Journey has EVER done. Replace 'Change For The Better' with it.
5. This HUGE/ (30 -40 yr old) tatted chick dancing like Elaine Bennes throughout Cheap Trick & Heart. This was also a highlight it was soooo funny. Later she either died or just ran out of gas. Never saw her once Journey took the stage.
Highlights-
1. Meeting soo many nice people & their families from this fourm. It was GREAT meeting you Tony (epresley)
2. Wildest Dream - BEST song of the night- It TOTALLY rocked. Other highlights included- Rubican, Faithfully, Wheel In The Sky, Escape, & Dont Stop Believin'
3. The bands energy - They were ALLLLLLLL GREAT. The last time I saw them live was in St. Paul at The Main Event Tour. Styx blew them COMPLETELY out of the Excel Center. They were bored & uninspiring. Not last night They were GREAT.
4. Arnel & The Fat singer from Heart - Both were GREAT
5. Having my kids loving the entire evening & the Saprano gun ending the evening on the screen.
Finally- between Cheap Trick & Heart I was up on the hill talking to a worker from The Verizon Theatre while my daughter did gymnastics. He stated that this was their first sold out show of the season. They stopped selling tickets at 20,500. He said that Crue fest had around 13,000 in attendance. But he had never worked here when they were expecting such a HUGE crowd. Ticketmaster was sold out and people were driving up to the gates during the day trying to procure tickets. He said at 1pm they were putting up signs on Retama Parkway & Lookout Road sending people home because they could not sell any more lawn seats.
Once Journey came on it was like being at The Texas Jam there were so many people. It was AWESOME & they TOTALLY Rocked!!
It was a GREAT night!!!!

Would you stop calling Ann fat?

She is a Rock Goddess!
Agree with you about "What I Needed". It's my favorite song on Revelation.
I enjoyed meeting you and epresley and your beautiful families. Good luck on your move!

1. Cheap Trick - they sounded OK at best and didnt play Voices, Gonna Raise Hell or Aint That A Shame.
Great songs for sure, but limited time. Gonna Raise Hell isn't that well known, and Ain't That a Shame's intro is probably longer than their allotted time.
Trick are all 4 originals and the one truely in tact band on the bill. Not even Heart is really the BAND heart.

'Weight challenged' hows that????
If I was skinny I would NEVER call her that. But since I also battle weight I have EARNED the right to use the word fat. I would love to have her around for another 20 plus years. She is TRULY awesome. But she needs to shed some major weight.
It's kind of like a black person using the N word. But I will use weight challenged from now on.
Which sister is the leads singer??
As for Cheap Trick they are ALL the ORGINAL members. That does say something!! I just felt that Robin didnt sound that great.
They are rock 'gods' and I wish they were allowed to play longer.
What did you all think of Journeys sound??
Was it real uneven to you???

Can't you just call her Ann?? "The fat singer" is just so disrespectful.
She does sound great. I can't wait to see her. I love her.
Glad to hear you enjoyed the show. I am looking forward to seeing Heart and Cheap Trick.

Robin was almost unparalleled for voice preservation up until a year or two ago. Keep in mind he is now 55 years old and still required to match those high notes of his youth. He's doing what everyone here wishes Steve Perry would do and should be commended for pulling it off successfully, if not quite as good as in his youth. He's still very impressive most nights.

He was good.
I guess I was a little disappointed because of the set length( which I did know was going to happen) plus he wasnt great.
Gonna Raise Hell & Aint That A Shame are two of my all time favorite tunes. I knew Gonna Raise Hell was a looong shot, but I thought they would for sure play Aint That A Shame.
Finally back in the late 70's I was suppose to see them. They had to cancel at the last minute. When they blew back into town I couldnt go.
Last night was the first night that I had ever seen Cheap Trick. So it was a little disappointing. I had the bar set too high.
What is GREAT about them is that they are the orginal players.
The entire show was soooooooooooooo damn good.
Styx is my favorite band, BUT last night was a better overall concert than The Main Event( REO/Styx/ Journey) was a few years back.

I agree with you about "What I needed", but not about "Change for the Better". These 2 songs should be the next 2 released. Then Wildest Dreams as a wild card at the end of tour....

Wildest Dreams was one of the BEST live songs I have EVER heard.
In my opinion if a single song could steal a show this was it last night.
It rocked like no other.
What they did with it and the video screen was Oscar & Grammy worthy.

Kel, can't agree with you more on *the fat singer* comments...thanks yogi for deciding to call her Ann.
And I'll tell ya, that girl has some pipes on her...awesome vocals...she hasn't lost a lick from when I saw Heart back in the day.
If someone has a boot of Heart's preformance on this tour, I would love to talk to you about it.
I'm so disappointed they're not coming to the Nashville show.

I feel that at age 55 , Robin Zander is the best vocalist on this show. Without any question. My call, try not to flame me too much.

Don't bother...anyone with hearing slightly better than Hellen Keller knows that Ann Wilson is the
best vocalist on this tour. Arnel is second and Zander is fucking GREAT, but by competition, 3rd.

I'm thinking all of those vocalists should sound croaky on their 3rd fucking night in a row. That should never happen for people at their ages. Seriously.

YOGI speaks the truth, this is exactly how I saw the night!!! Man, had a great time meeting everyone and hanging with Yogi and his crew. He pretty much babysat my youngest the whole night. We hit it off immediately! Heart killed. Sorry everyone, it's true.

wow!! i thought that was an
incredibly beautiful performance.. she nailed that tune..she even hit the high part..
i love the sound of an aging voice .. little gravely here and there.. shows the grace of aging...
