Kevin Chalfant recorded in 80's song Hold On To The Vision In Your Eyes which was used in Jean-Claude Van Damme's 1986. movie No Retreat, No Surrender... there is a soundtrack for that movie, but this song isn't on it...
If someone has good quality version of this song and is willing to share...

Here is "video" for this song with footage from movie...

I wonder if there are other Kevin's soundtrack contributions... Anyone knows them?

Didn't realize that, though I've seen the movie before -- maybe I should rent it again just for the song!

Here it is but it would be wonderful if anyone has the actual track rather then just a low quality version (ripped straight from the movies soundtrack) -

Interestingly 'Hold On to the Vision' wasn't originally used in the movie's soundtrack. In fact there are at least two different edits of the movie both with completely different soundtracks. The original, shorter theatrical cut had the better soundtrack in my opinion and featured 'Stand On Your Own' by Paul Gireath instead of the Chalfant track. Here's a decent mp3 copy of that slice of '80s magnificence! -

WARNING: Listening to the second track may start you off on some sort of crazy exercise regime! Please consult your doctor before attempting to relive your youth!

Actually, Paul Gilreath was just songwriter and producer of this song... Stand On Your Own is sung by certain Joe Torono who sounds very much like Jimi Jamison... anyone heard some other song with this guy's vocals?

Oh hell yeah! After a bit of searching I finally found the whole soundtrack which has been out of print for years. Still bad news about the Chalfant song though - see the bold text below...

Download link is -

All the tracks on this CD are from the cut version of the film.

1.Making Contact- Trailer music I have never seen the trailer for this film so I can't confirm this one
2.It's Showtime played near the end of the film at the Kingwood's sport center the scene of the exhibition match
3.Stand on your own The main theme of the film vocals by Joe Torono
4.Main Theme played during the opening credits of the film
5.Reflections Played during the scene where Jason is setting up in the empty house after RJ has left
6.To Seattle Played as the family leave L.A. for Seattle
7.Country music hell played in the bar where the guy asks for another beer. Its a vocal track but I have no clue who sings this one
8.Bruce Lee appears played during the scene as "Bruce Lee" makes his return
9.I-5 this is played when Jason sneaks off and opens the U Haul trailer and gets his training gear out and sets up a practice room in the garage
10.Training Montage A slightly misleading song title because the music featured on this track is the music RJ has in his tape deck and this music is also played during the break dancing scene at the disco hall. This definitely is NOT the music Jason trained to during the film.
11.The Russian appears Another misleading song title. In the film the music plays as "Bruce Lee" leaves Jason after he kicks the training bag that is in the air 12.The Pike place markets played during the scene Scott treats his friends to the burgers at Burger time
13.Young Lovers played during the scene Jason and RJ visit Bruce Lee's grave
14.The aroma from Tacoma played during Kelly's party
15.The Rescue Played when Jason rescues his dad from the 4 bar thugs
16.A night out in Fife Played during Jason's date with Kelly
17.Time to kick ass! Played during the scene Ivan twists Jason's wrists around
18.The Race to victory played during Kelly's party during the scene Scott jumps in the pool
19.The Lover's kiss HELP! despite my many many daily viewings of the film I have no idea where in the film this song appears
20.No Retreat No Surrender Love song this song is played during the scene Jason and Kelly are tricked into dancing with each other but after talking they make up

The music is composed and conducted by Paul Gilreath. This CD is sadly long out of print but is well worth tracking down if you liked the music in the film. On a side note though there is different soundtrack that was done for the uncut version of the film but that soundtrack has never been issued on any format.

I'm off to party like it's 1985! Enjoy!

Nice. I was lucky enough to buy the original CD about 10 years ago, it was in a local CD shop - but nice to see that its available for download.

Then its still by him just performed by someone else... You are right though, Stand On Your Own was indeed performed by the seemingly elusive Joe Torono.

Sure, but I never really cared much about whose name is written in song credits, unless it's Jim Peterik, Jonathan Cain, Michael Bolton, Desmond Child, Dianne Warren, Mark Spiro, Jim Steinman or someone like that...
Vocals and sometimes guitars, on the other hand are very important to me... :D

Nice quality! I compared this version to the version I ripped from the DVD (Dutch version). Somehow the annoying 20 seconds of fight noise that overlaps the movie version is not present in this new version. But, this new version doesn't have the 30 second guitar solo at the end of the song (i.e. at the end of the credits). FF, do you know anything about the origin of the file you posted? It almost doesn't sound like a movie rip.

Not sure where to find it, but I know Chalfant did a cover of the Rolling Stones Time is on My Side. Think it was on a local Chicago-area cd.
