OT: Anyone else here really hate their job

Five years of college, a bachelors degree and $50,000+ in student loans and I'm making $8 an hour in a shitty factory in the middle of nowhere. Embarrassing huh? I swear to god every day I spend there my IQ drops 10 points, half of the people that work there can barely do elementary school math. I guess that's what I get for picking a field that no company is interested in. Had a really bad day at work...can anybody tell.?

Count me in amongst those hating their job...I do the network administration at my office and software support for accounting software. Hate the latter part of it. My degree is in business administration but I love doing the network admin stuff. Unfortunately, the company wants me to go one way and I want to go the other. Looking for a new job...

So am I. The problem I'm running into is that outside of teaching, a history degree isn't in huge demand and everybody wants experience so they won't give me a chance.

Better yet, go on somd.com. They are begging for good teachers down here in Md. We have had a bunch of teachers that have moved here from Pa. Fuck pa. Check it out. Also type in Calvert County Md, get on there website. They were paying $5000.00 bonuses for teachers, no bullshit. I am serious !! We need good teachers here

I loved quite a few of the people before I quit my previous job, but the place was literally killing me (and I do mean the definition of literally, which is a huge part of why I quit.) I do miss being a part of the management crew I worked with, but other than that.......not so much.

I don't really hate my job, but there are days when I dislike it a whole lot. Like 2 weeks ago Monday. We got robbbed. I work in a bank and that the first robbery I have had to deal with. I wasn't the teller that was robbed, but it still a little freaky. He didn't show the teller his gun, but he told her that he had one. Scary...

wow.. that IS scary.. glad you and no one else got hurt. :?

I go through moments where I love my job and hate it all the same. I should've played the "dumb" card when I started. I work for the County and they find every possible means they
can take advantage of me. I'm a Secretary aka "person who does all" while the higher ups sit around.

Nope, not really hating my job at the moment, got a new one in May. I now work with website management and online journalism for an interest organisation.

But I can relate, since I hated my old job very, very much  A small company with a banana republic approach to project management and a staff with room temperature IQs.

There are days when this one particular sales rep. is in the office, like today that I hate being here. I've tried very hard to tolerate this guy but he's so arrogant I can't stand him. I picture him as this big dumb jock in high school. The one that wasn't REALLY that good but he thinks he was the star of the football team. He acts like he's SO smart but can't really spell, apparently doesn't know what the calculator is for because he can't add real well (how do you add to whole numbers and come out with a total that has change in it?) and makes me put on my teacher hat when he gives me a quote to type up or a parts order because I then have to go over everything, redo it, correct the pricing, etc. If he came by it honestly, I wouldn't care but he is such a pompous know it all ass that I take pleasure making fun of him in my mind. He's a tool. The only time he makes me smile is when he walks around whistling "If I Only Had A Brain" from the Wizard Of Oz. No shit. He really does this. I sit there and think, "Yes, if only..."

TGIF!!

I'm self-employed, so if I start to hate my job, I've got issues.

I actually love what I do, as well as the benefits of working for myself. For me, they far out-weigh any negatives.

First off, great post, Steve! Second, I went to college for SEVEN years.   I finally graduated because they basically threw me out. I started out with shit job after shit job. 10 YEARS later I found a job that suits me well. It's never easy and I will never degrade someone who makes an honest living...it's all you can do. Good luck to everyone and happy Friday!!! :)

Teaching is a hard gig...I don't know if I could do it. I LOVE kids, but I don't think I would have that kind of patience! Hang in there, you never know when an opportunity will just fall in your lap.

I LOVE my job! Two years of college, I sit on my ass, play music and talk and no physical labor. Oh, and the perks are pretty decent! :P

The thing with teachers is that they are always crying for more money. First of all, people go into teaching because they LOVE to TEACH. No one goes into teaching expecting to strike it rich. AND for only working 6 months out of the year. Now, I DO admit that today's kids are becoming hard to deal with, but there is something in EVERY job that is hard at some point.

I have no sympathy for teachers who cry for money and strike. Yeah, they really care about the kids.....riiiiight.

Ooops....sorry, MG.....I'll just say PART of the year. 8 mos., 9 mos.....WHATEVER....

My point is....they get paid enough for what they do. Period. End of story. In other words, if they were delivery people, I wouldn't tip them....
