Scranton Concert Review.. 8-16-08

Postby YoungJRNY » Tue Aug 19, 2008 10:48 am

Hello MR'ers.. drove up to the Scranton concert Saturday night, and let me tell you it was a BLAST.

Me, T-Time, his son (first timer), and my girlfriend (2nd timer..went to the DEF L. Tour in '06) loaded the car Saturday morning and off we go to witness the hottest tour of the summer. Of course we got lost 5 times since it is about a 5 hour drive from where we are so you could imagine how that went.

We arrived Saturday around 4 and right away we meet a couple who travel to concerts. The dude was a big time Santana fan from his early days, and the wifey was more of a Soto fan who was having a hard time accepting the new lineup..even though this is their 3rd show attending and more would follow up, I urged them to give the new lineup a shot and they would NOT be disappointed..guaranteed. All in all, they were what JRNY fans are...obnoxious haha. 8)

We finally get into the show and complications start up right away. We had troubles getting our tickets up front since Gayle had them in her name in the beginning and transferred them to T-Times name.. they tried to tell us they had NOTHING in both of our names therefore no tickets. Tension was rising and shit was about to hit the fan. Time talked to these reasonable security guards, and we ended up getting in touch with Heart's road crew people..esp Montley Sue. Great lady and understanding..she handled the situation and got us the tickets 4 rows from stage.. so a big thank you goes out to Ms.Sue

Now onto the concert. WOW were our seats unbelievable..amazing and the concert was even more than that. Heart stole the Show and deserves to have their own headliner one of these days. WOW did they kick ass..jaw-dropping vocals and the sex appeal was in the air! Sexy ladies to some sexy talent! Easy 10/10 out of the ladies.

After Heart left stage it took sometime to set up for the big boys. The energy was starting to rise and you could feel it in the packed house. As they took stage the crowd just ate all of Journey up and never spit them back out. Arnel is everything you want in a front man and whatever word is a synonym to phenomenal is what Arnel was..hit every note and nailed every song. Remember Vegas people? HAH.. not even compared to where the band is today.

During the show it felt like we were the only 4 people in the area. Arnel kept coming over and high fiving..Jon Cain threw me his pick but with price to pay for the fellow woman in front of me. As he threw the pick, it kind of floated in the air and I did a flying elbow drop right onto this lady in the front row to get it, so whoever she was, I apologize haha. During Faithfully me and my girl were up on the big screen slow dancing and we had numerous people come up to us after the show asking if we were the couple on the screen. Really cool.

During the show there was a whole line of Phillipe's behind us who said they knew Arnel. Wow were they excellent people. Very kind and to the point. We were high fiving all night and they made the night even more special.

Overall I give the show 5 thumbs up and Heart & Journey 6 thumbs up. Journey is at their best and whoever will be attending any concert will leave with a full, satisfied stomach. See- yah in the high anticipated Cleveland!!!!

Glad you had a great time!

YoungJrny wasn't it your brother who made the shirt that RIP gave during a concert in Dallas?

It was also cool that you and your girlfriend made it in the video during the "Faithfully" song and that
people recognized you after :)

That is correct about the shirt footprints its all too surreal! I would pay whoever has a clip of Faithfully on the big screen, would be a nice memorabilia to our relationship 8)

No worries dude.. we are always mistaken for something else  I'm a Filipino living in the UK and because of the way I look and/or the sound of my surname, I have been mistaken for a Spanish, Italian, Thai, and Chinese. One sweet lady on the phone said that my surname sounds like a holiday destination. My favorite was when I was walking in an ASDA supermarket car park and a little boy of African origin pointed at me and said to his mum; "Mum look, Jackie Chan!". I am neither fair skinned nor do I have Chinese eyes
