Recognition for Journey's music in Asia seems to be more pronounced than I initially pictured...Chanced upon this not-so-recent YT upload, among other indicative bits.

BTW, the singer made it as the season winner (Singapore Idol) and ultimately, as the first and current Asian Idol, outvoting Idol representatives from India, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, and the Philippines.

As far as western acts go, Journey owned Japan musically from 1980 to 1984. Then Bon Jovi and hairmetal started and Journey faded away.

A tad late on this one...It's been almost a month:

"Open Arms," an album with a version of Journey's "Open Arms" as its carrier single, is no. 1 in Singapore. Here's the song...listen at your own risk LOL...kidding.

Cool stuff Etc.. It's amazing how popular Journey is again.

Arnel has brought them back to life, and expanded their fanbase tremendously. The J boys have to be smiling a lot more these days. They're kicking ass again.
