Ok, thanks to all who responded to my last emergency....

Ok, now to the issue.....my burner is not recognized in Windows Media Player....isn't that odd? The one a took out wasn't recognized either. Curiouser and curiouser!

When I pick songs to burn, the burner icon at the bottom stays faded...like burning isn't an option....and in the 'burning window' it says "connect a burner and restart player" WTF is that?!

Ok Geek Squad....huddle up and fire up those synapses!

Format/reinstall. I know that's a pain in the ass, but it usually fixes everything, and your computer runs as good as it did when it came out of the box.

I keep my os on a small partition and all my media/programs on the larger partition. It makes it easy to do a reformat of the small partition only without losing everything or copying music back to the drive from backup discs. Once in a blue moon I'll reformat and repartition everything.

Get partition magic, version 8 or higher. You can make a new partition while you're in windows which is very cool. Copy your music, pics, vidz, etc. to the new partition. Now you can reformat the OS side.

DON'T FORGET WHICH PARTITION IS WHICH.

You don't want to delete all your stuff accidentally.

Yessir. I use a secondary hard drive and some use external hard drives to keep their documents such as pictures and music on. That way, when it comes time to format and resinstall they don't lose those things. You can also back up your bookmarks/favorites, email addresses and stuff you don't want to lose on the secondary or external drive.

Not sure that Media Player is the problem, but it's worth a shot. You can do that in Add/Remove programs and it's either in the normal window, or in the Add/Remove Windows Components window.

Check the update box at the top of add/remove. You may be able to rollback to WMP10. Then you can try again.

Another option is that you may have a program that's conflicting with your burner. Can you actually see your burner in My Computer?

I had an old version of Roxio a while back that I installed. When I did, both my Rom Drives disappeared. Took me a few hours to figure it out. When I uninstalled the Roxio, they appeared again. So... I went and got a newer version of Roxio and everythign was fine. Check your recent programs

I found the problem, guys.

You're using Windows Media Player.
