Friday morning (August 22) on a Detroit radio station, drummer Jason Bonham revealed that he is leaving Foreigner at the end of this month.

Since Jason filled the seat once occupied by his late father John Bonham at the Zeppelin show in London last December, does this raise the likelihood of a full-fledged Led Zeppelin reunion?

Jason, who was (obviously) born in England, now lives in Florida. He said, "I've been over [to England] a couple of times, I've been working with Jimmy [Page] and John Paul [Jones] and trying to do just do some new material and some writing. I don't know what it will be, but it will be something."

Jason says, "My time with Foreigner is coming to an end. This is the first time I've talked about it. I leave at the end of this month so, I mean, I'm looking forward to taking some time out to be with the family really. Since I moved to America I've been on the road, so my first priority is to go and watch my kids grow up, because they've grown up way to fast in the last four years."

No word from Foreigner on who will replace Jason.

So what do you think? Any chance Plant and the Boys get back on the road again? Or could Page start a new group with Bonham and Jones and forge ahead with some new material?

That' a really good question. I'd love to see a Zep tour but I think the answer to that question depends on whether Plant's commitment to his bluegrass project with Allison Kraus. Personally I think Led Zeppelin is a better choice.

I'll believe the Zeppelin tour when I see it. Not really a huge fan but I'd probably catch a show.

I would agree that the Zep deal would be better but you can't deny that Kraus deal is much better to look at.

Plant will Tour with Zepp, which is most likely a year to 18 months away.

So IMO a better offer has been made and he can't publicly come out and say yes we are doing X Y or Z.

18 months? Some of those guys may not have that much time!

this has been the longest running reunion rumor ever, when i was touring in the late 80's
merch people would tell me , "next summer zep is going to tour", every year this would start up
believe it when plant says it

Best of luck to Jason, and I'm just so glad I got to see him twice with Foreigner. He added even more star power to the current lineup.

Another question is whether or not Plant's voice can handle the rigors of touring. After all he is 60.

He doesn't have to sing at the top of his voice. Just keep within himself like he's doing with Krauss. The tickets will sell regardless. Only 10 % of Zepplin's catalog is really heavy metal. He can tailor the setlist around what he is comfortable with.

Plant doesn't need the money, he wants to move forward as an artist. I'm not sure why these Zep rumors keep coming up, he clearly isn't particularly interested in doing it beyond the occasional show like the one last year.

As for his voice...waaaaay more than 10% of Zep's catalog is heavy, high-register stuff. At least with Krauss he's doing music that suits his voice at age 60, rather than a Zep show where he's trying to sound like he did 35 years earlier.

Plant did his reunion with Zeppelin. I don't think there will be another. He can barely pull that material off now, which is understandable. He probably would rather leave everybody happy with the reunion they just had and leave it at that. Page needs to just move on to something else and let Zeppelin fade into the history books as the greatest hard rock act ever. Now THAT'S a legacy that shouldn't be screwed up.

There's been no official word of any further Zeppelin activity since the December concert, despite intense speculation, largely because of singer Robert Plant's commitment to touring behind Raising Sand, his album with bluegrass singer Alison Krauss.
Bonham, a native of England who now lives in Florida, also revealed that he was giving up his current job with Foreigner at the end of the month.

Overrated? I can't even take you seriously after a misinformed opinion like that.

The woman is an incredibly talented musician/singer/songwriter/producer, with a voice like an angel, who other musicians routinely point to as one of the great voices in the business today. She's won more Grammy's than any other female artist in history, and pulls it all off live with a stripped-down accompaniment. If you can pull it off without the "net" of loud amps and a wall of sound, that's when you know you're seeing (and hearing) someone of exceptional talent.

So, in conclusion, you're just wrong. No thanks necessary.

I just dont get the appeal... never have about her and its only one guys opinion. She might be AMAZING TALENT... but I that doesnt mean i have to love her style music.

Instead of playing behind Plant & Page, I would rather Jason create his own band even if the sound was LedZeppish.

This was a great band, too bad they didn't keep it going. Jason would've been awesome in this one.
