OT - Banned from WTF! What a stupid idiot! (New poster)
Posted: Wed Aug 27, 2008 5:22 amBEIJING (Reuters) - Cuba's Angel Valodia Matos was banned for life from taekwondo on Saturday for kicking a referee and a Chinese favorite was knocked out in a controversial ruling as the final bouts of the Olympic tournament descended into chaos.The confusion overshadowed victory for Cha Dong-min, who took South Korea's fourth taekwondo gold medal at the Beijing Games in the men's +80-kg category, and Mexico's Maria Espinoza, who won gold in the women's +67-kg.Leading 3-2 in the men's +80-kg bronze-medal bout against Kazakhstan's Arman Chilmanov, Matos slumped to the floor rubbing his leg and was disqualified for exceeding a minute's injury time, prompting the Cuban's coach to rush onto the mat.After a heated exchange, Matos struck the referee in the head with a high kick. He also kicked another official before being escorted out of the arena.
A tournament official announced the life ban for Matos and his coach over a loudspeaker a few minutes later."It was an insult to the Olympic vision, to the spirit of taekwondo and for me, an insult to mankind," said Jin Suk Yang, general secretary of the World Taekwondo Federation (WTF).Jin qualified that the ban was pending approval from the IOC and that the Cuban team could appeal. He also said that the WTF would seek legal action against the Cuban team, and that the referee needed stitches for a cut lip.

, I would like to introduce myself to the MR group. Been lurking here for a long time and I must admit, this forum makes my day. I get entertained reading posts that ranges from the sub-prime to the pRickulous. I am very open minded and I respect every individual's opinion. Journey is one of my favorite all-time bands. I can't really say it's my ultimate favorite since I listen to everything my mood directs me. Grew up listening to the Beatles, Clapton, Seals and Crofts, Steely Dan, Bee Gees, Eric Burdon etc. and I do have a strong background in 80's music as well. I was so confident with my music knowledge that I actually auditioned for a spot on the now defunct VH1's "Rock and Roll Jeopardy". Passed the written test, interview and everything. Well, I did not get selected. Too asian perhaps... 
For the record - IMHO, Steve Perry is the best male vocalist to ever grace the earth. For those who agree, we should might as well call him "sliced bread" since he is the best thing....well, you know where I am going with this.

Andrew: What can I say? If there's an appreciation thread that can be started (I know it's a no-no nowadays) it should be for Mr. McNeice. Let's give him props and not shit. It is really hard to moderate a message board with this many members and I only have nothing but respect for him.
Nina Hartley: Okay, that's probably not her but I could have sworn I saw a picture of her in this board that resembles this 80's icon. If you don't know who Nina Hartley is, she is a well known nurse who graduated Magna Cum Laude from San Fran State U.
