Found a camera cable finally, so here are a few pics and a short report from Rock the Bayou Fest in Houston.

3:00 yesterday, Lynch Mob, with the amazing George Lynch and (surprisingly) Marco Mendoza on bass. They sounded great but had tons of technical problems. At one point George's guitar died completely out & Marco and the drummer did about 5 minutes of rap (!) while folks scurried around to fix things. They also did some impromptu jam stuff that I have vid for but no time to upload it at the moment. Also did some Dokken stuff (Mr. Scary & Into the Fire).

Did I mention it was hot? OMG, in a cow pasture in Houston in late August; who planned this thing?












Went back for Ratt and Queensryche after picking sis up at the airport. They sound pretty good, but I don't know their stuff that well. QR below.







Headed to the pasture for Day 2 in a little while... Great White, DOKKEN, Lita Ford, & Sammy Hagar.

I bet it was hot...I've been to Houston in the summer - but not around the cows! Have fun!

Yea, Alice Cooper came in to my store today, very nice guy!.....

Sis and I survived day two ... weather still unbelievably hot, but the music was too.

First band we made it to see was Great White, who were, indeed, great. This is another band I don't know too much about other than their big hits, but they sounded terrific and had lots of energy despite the heat. They were the first in a series of folks to complain about the sound system, particularly the bands' monitors; everyone was having trouble hearing themselves. Also for some reason, the Aisle Nazis made everyone stand by their seat & no once could get up close to the fence for this band. Weird because it was midday and the crowd was not that large.



Next up was Dokken. Thanks to Rip, I knew all the words! Don was royally pissed at the sound situation, calling it "fucking amateur hour," among other choice phrases. Also no appearance from George Lynch as had been promised a while back in a radio interview. But they sounded great to me; set was the greatest hits plus Standing on the Outside from LSA. And of course Rip got his concert calls.





Lita Ford was up after Dokken, right as the sun was setting. More sound system problems, but her band sounded terrific. Crowd seem kinda flat, though; I think a lot of folks were running out of steam and waiting impatiently for Sammy.




And finally, the Red Rocker ROCKED. This is the first time I've gotten to see him, and from the front row, it was such a blast. Tons of energy, hit after hit, plus some new stuff and some VH stuff. Plus he had all kinds of things going on like his chorus of fans at the back of the stage.





Day 3 tomorrow ... LA Guns, Slaughter, Yngwie, Warrant, and Alice Cooper ...

Ok, this is something I'm not getting... I kept hearing in Dallas how miserable a venue SuperPages was, and how it was "Hotter than the hinges of Hades"... LOL! I was fully prepared to be miserable, and had even brought extra heavy sunblock, but was surprised to find it quite comfortable and couldn't some believe people avoided the concert to escape the heat. It was hot, but a dry heat and not that bad at all. I'm used to a completely draining humid type of heat that just sucks the energy out of ya... so how hot was it really in the cow pasture?

I loved the calls, and was tickled to hear that you were up front leaning way over the fence to get to Don. Did he see you? Hey, have fun tomorrey!

Dallas was not as hot this year as that venue has been some years ... I don't know what the deal was, but I agree, the Journey show was not all that bad. As for the current Houston pasture: NO SHADE, a barren field, and high humidity. Don bitched about it being hot all the way through his set; unless he's a big weinie...

Don was hot and in a snit ... he kept stomping around and yanking on his mic cord that someone had coiled up. He pulled one of the connectors loose and was without a mic at all for about 5 minutes. The man does snit very well ... Hagar had bikini models bringing him icy beverages; Don looked like he needed something like that.

As for stories, he did give the background behind most of the songs. Alone Again is apparently about those "one week relationships where on Monday you think the person is the shit and by Friday you just think they are shit."

The man has a surprisingly sweet smile. Favorite part was hearing In My Dreams live; love that song...

I went to Houston about this time of year, probably 5 or 6 years ago. It was so hot and humid it was like standing under a dryer vent.

I agree about the Journey show in Dallas, there was at least a breeze blowing. Those big fans hanging from the roof might have been helping.

Last time I was on the lawn. Decided not to do that again after some dude whipped it out and peed right next to my wife's foot.

Nice to see that you were one of the fifteen people there in attendance, Fu Fu.

Haha...I was close alright! That video has taken on a life of it's own on Youtube - it has over 7,000 views now. The Dokken army is growing in numbers!

I wonder if our friend Gustav will be raining out Day 4 of the festival? Are you there for the whole thing DrFU?
