Her 17 year old daughter is 5 months pregnant. She will be marrying the guy. Do all these people get to live at the White house or just McCain and his spouse if elected?

The Vice Presidential family resides at the Navel Observatory: http://www.whitehouse.gov/history/life/vpresidence.html

Cool, they'll put it to good use, with a baby coming in December and a special needs child already in the mix.

Who cares? I wish her well. It has NOTHING to do with the McCain ticket. In fact, I'd have been LESS inclined to vote for the Republicans had she NOT welcomed her daughter with open arms. She seems like a fantastic mother and a truly good person who cares about her family and constituents. McCain does, too - they're both good through and through.

Well, you admit that her response to her daughter's situation would have had a small bearing on your own inclination towards Palin. Fair or not, I'm sure some Republicans will have some misgivings about her, so that makes it worthy to me to see how people feel. You took the high road.

Who ever did this kind of research had way too much time on their hands, Sounds like a far left liberal to me. Families should off limits period.

I respect her for going ahead and announcing this. Most would try to hide it until a scandal broke out and hurt credibility. She came straight up front with this info so now noone can come back at her down the road. Good move, good Republican ticket.

When I saw the headlines saying "Palin chosen as running mate" - I thought they meant Michael Palin from Monty Python.

If they were Dems, John Cleese could be the speech writer.

Just imagine!

I've always had a bit of a crush on Michael Palin. I know he's not very rock'n'roll, but there is something about him.

Nah, normal people are boring ...

Here's a confession for ya ... long ago I used to teach high school English; students and I slogged through The Scarlet Letter every year ... every time Reverend Dimmesdale's name came up in the text, I'd get a flash of Python's giant hedgehog popping up on the screen and muttering, "Dimsdale!" Most inappropriate of me.

Everyone in Python was brilliant. 10 times better than Little Britian and other imitators (In my opinion).

Aah yes, Doug & Dinsdale Pirahna. :)

One of them imagined he had a giant hedgehog named Spiny Norman in his garage.

Here's a confession for you............I have a teeny weeny swarovski crystal hedgehog on my bookshelves - and I call him SHINY Norman in his honour!

I have never laughed at Little Britain. Not once. I don't like it. No idea how it has become so popular.

Some Python sketches weren't so good as others but I agree, all the team are brilliant.

Well, I see I misunderstood the Hedgehog's pronunciation a bit & it's Dinsdale ... oh well! Shiny Normal ... that's a hoot; I guess I forgot he had a name.

I only know because I used to have a Monty Python book with some scripts in it.
All the names were written down. And there was a cartoon sketch of Spiny Norman, so when I was given this little trinket hedgehog I remembered the cartoon and named him Shiny Norman. It's nice that you know what I am talking about. I have mentioned these characters to other people and they thought I was making them up!
Aah simple pleasures amuse us don't they?
You don't HAVE to be nuts to post here but it really does help.

It always amazes me how interested the media gets in stuff like this. I mean ... really? With all the things going on in the world, why is a pregnant teenager news? They've been going on for hours on one of the stations with "up to the minute coverage".

A teenager having sex? Gasp! The shock! The horror! </sarcasm off>

What's bugging me more is all the idiots on the talkback forums condemning the poor kid, her parents etc. I bet a lot of the people doing the bitching were probably either having sex or wanting to at age 17.

Why is this news? Seriously ...?

As my grandmother once said, "teenagers having sex isn't exactly a 'new' thing".

No one's condemning her. It's news because Palin has a full plate at the moment. Her kid's a newborn, this kid's due in December. She's out campaigning so her life is pretty busy right now. If you have chance to be a heartbeat away from the presidency it's only right to see how she handles the other things in her life.

My question is this-- how many americians knew who Palin was prior to the announcement of being a VP running mate? If she hadn't gotten the nod, do we really think anyone would give 2 shits about an Alaska governor's daughter being pregnant.

I'd say not. BTW-she's pretty damn hot herself.

If she's not a VP candidate, we're not having this conversation. As it is, anything to do with her, babies and unwed mothers is news because of her and McCain being viewed as the ticket that will try to overturn “Roe vs. Wade”.

I like the fact that Gov. Palin doesn't see the child this way, "If my daughter makes a mistake I don't want her punished with a baby." Guess who made this statement?

The young lady and her family are taking responsibility for her actions, not running to the local abortion clinic as a matter of convenience.

Now I am not a proponent of the state telling women what to do with their bodies and what decision they have to make, but I believe abortion is a terrible terrible thing. I just don't think it is the government's place to intervene, and that those women who see a baby as "punishment" for a mistake will face far greater punishment when they face the Ultimate Judge.

The causation between the notoriously anti-sex ed. Gov. Palin and her daughter’s now preggo state cannot be overlooked.
At least Obama was talking about educating kids about sex and its consequences when he made that ill-phrased remark.
Palin would rather have kids frolic dumb and naked in the Alaskan tundra .
