If there are any Brits left on here you may be interested in the Fabulous Fifth UK Journey Fans Convention, taking place near Barnsley on 4th October 2008.

All proceeds from the event will go to a number of supported charities. To date, these conventions have raised in the region of $17,000 for those charities. As well as great music and video footage, quizzes, raffles, and a fine rock band called Joon to finish off the day, there are also a lot of excellent prizes in the charity auction on the day. These include a unique guitar strap used by Neal and signed by the whole band and donated personally by Neal. I believe the retail value of his guitar straps is several hundred dollars, even before the exclusivity of him wearing it. Further details of the convention can be found on http://www.journeyrock.co.uk.

I hope to see some of you there.

Marty

I'm gigging that night Marty - but I'm sure it will go well.
I've played at that venue - supported the Queen Tribute Band, Mercury.
It's easy to find. Not too far from M1 exit 36.
You'll have a great time.

I don't own the copyright to the songs I have recorded, and in the UK I would have to pay the composers a fee to make money from selling CD's of me singing my interpretations of their songs. It's ok to let people hear samples, as long as I am not receiving money for that. So I would never do that. They created them, not me. And I can't afford to pay to 'borrow' the songs.

I'm just a jobbing musician singing covers for my living. I am allowed to make money from performing them live because the venues I play at pay a yearly license which sends a contribution to the Performing Rights Society in the UK which ensures the composers receive their royalty for the songs when I perform them live.

Of course, I could post some links via MailBigFile for you to hear.
I have recordings of a few songs, I'll see if I can remember how to do it. :)

I have my versions of Open Arms [Journey, obviously], and the jazzy stuff - Fever, Cry Me A River, The Look Of Love and Summertime.

Hope the links work.
