Rick posted this in another thread, but it needs its own thread. Glad they're using their heads, but I thought this should have come a bit sooner. I hope he recovers quickly.

Oh good! That site says refunds are available! So there is hope if they cancel Cleveland.

Let's hope it's not something more serious. Schon and Cain had better let him rest his voice COMPLETELY for at least six months before even thinking about going back into the studio, let alone record again, once this tour ends.

He sure did...it was on the Cleveland thread...sorry.

It is the hardest thing in the world...to be sick and away from love ones. I've been there, i don't recommend it to anyone. My heart bleeds for him. Take care bro.

Don't be sorry, it does need it's own thread in case people reading here are planning on going. Well done.

Hope he's better by the 16th :?

If not, I may not be able to go to a rescheduled show due to work

Bronchitis is so hard to recover from, and they have a heavy tour schedule ahead, poor guy! :(

Oh shit... I hope he's not coming down with Perry-Augeri disease.

Augeri suffered ongoing voice problems during Journey's 2006 tour. It was announced after a show on July 4th that he was to be replaced on tour by Jeff Scott Soto, vocalist with Neal Schon's side project Soul Sirkus. Augeri was diagnosed as suffering from a throat infection and was advised to rest his vocal cords while recovering. After having toured with bronchitis around 2002, this was known to be a lot more serious.

The fucking Bionic Man couldn't sing that shit for more than two or three months straight without major vocal issues. I don't even think God could do it.

Oh... I forgot... He already did.

(...and the choir sings "Hallelujiah"...)

When was the last time Journey cancelled a show during a tour? There was the Chile show in 2006, but that was more a stand alone show.

Knowing that the vocals needed for Journey tunes are very straining on the vocal chords, you'd think that the band would schedule their shows for every-other night to give him a little breather/rest.

That's a good question. I'm not sure I can remember the last time.

I'm saying Toronto on Friday gets postponed, too. They'll play the Ohio shows this weekend, especially Cleveland because it's sold out, and then from that point the tour gets a little lighter. 20 shows left starting with Cleveland. By postponing Toronto they get rid of the last three-in-a-row stretch, and they can get Arnel to Cleveland and have him rest there for three days to get ready for Saturday with no travel or anything.

Toronto will probably be cancelled. And they do have one more 3 day stretch at the end of the tour.

Oh, my bad. The last three dates of the tour. Good catch. I've got two shows coming up next week, so hopefully they'll be good to go.

I think the second show at the Greek is sold out. If Heart did a two hour set by themselves, I'd still go.

Schon and Cain's decision-making in the next six months will be very telling. If they just keep throwing him out there with no regard for his long-term health, that will be all I need to know, and if it continues, I will no longer attend their shows or buy their records.

Prilosec! I have that problem! We luvs ya! Get well dude! it is acid that rises up, it burns your throat, severely. Hurts for days! There is good medication these days though!

He says the acid got so bad that it came up and burned his vocal chords. :(

It really makes you wonder how Perry did it for so long with the pace they kept then.

My bet is that Arnel is already shopworn. Bet they are already looking for another singer.

I don't know how he can read anything on the shoutbox, it moves way too fast.
