Greetings from (what's left of) Baton Rouge - Second Update

Hey Gang

We're fine...still no power, but we have a generator...I'm at my brother's office right now in order to get online...

Roughly 90% of Baton Rouge is still without power...no real clear timeframe as to when it will be restored...

There is an 8:00pm - 6:00am curfew in place...Zero tolerance - you will go straight to jail...

Not sure how much I'll be online until power and cable are restored...Family is safe, and no real damage to our property to speak of.

Thanks to everyone for your thoughts and prayers. It really does mean a lot and helps a great deal...

Many stories to tell later, but for now, just wanted to check in for those concerned...

Thanks again
Todd (AlteredDNA)

Glad you're safe. No way I'd abide by that curfew, though. Don't be a pussy. See if they're serious and get back to us.  :P

If I did that, I wouldn't be able to get back to you... :)

Over 50 arrests since the storm for curfew violation alone...

Thanks for checking in Todd! Glad you are safe and didn't suffer much damage. We're having your Gustav leftovers up here today. Take care and hope you're up and running soon! :)

If you do have to go out after curfew, just be sure to carry some emergency supplies, like soap on a rope. That's just in case you get tossed in the Pokey.

No. I actually went through the eruption of Mt . Pinatubo. We were in Zimbales and a Typhoon hit right when the mountain blew so the ash came down heavy like wet cement. One thing I did learn is that beer is not a good substitute for water.

Hope your power is back on now.
And I hope there is no filthy flood water to pump out and that your home is as you left it. My heart goes out to you and everyone who has been in the path of anything like Gustav and all the others.
Check in soon DNA and let us know how it is going.

Latest Update:

Still no power - hearing rumours possibly Monday...Roughly 75% of Baton Rouge is still without power...

I'm back at my brother's office this morning for a bit, then going out to look for a air conditioning window unit...I will be armed... :)

I'll probably lock myself in here tonight (curfew) to get some work done as well..

This storm is the worst that Louisiana as a whole has ever faced...Major challenges in virtually every city...When things are back to "normal", I'll have pictures and stories to share (for those who are interested).

To anyone that's in the line of fire of Hanna, please take precautions and be safe. My thoughts and prayers are with you...

And of course, this SOB is looming:

Lastly, again thanks to all for the thoughts, prayers, and kind words. It continues to be a help...

Thanks for checking in DNA.. hope your conditions improve. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Looks like the SOB looming may take aim for Miami. That sucks, my grandparents live there and they are too old to be dealing
with another storm. :?
