Ahh, ya know, occasionally goofy casting rumors like this get floated, and I'm not convinced it's not some marketing scheme to spark a little controversy to fire conversation up. They did the same with SHAZAM, floating the idea that The Rock would be Captain Marvel (and later, maybe Black Adam, which I think he'd be great as!). They aren't that stupid... What will happen is when they finally cast Captain America, they'll do it properly to the relief of fans, further exciting them for the film.

Casting rumors like this rile up the fanboys who go nuts, then they probably feel the producers listened to their outcry when they announce a more proper choice for the role. Brilliant...

are we going the have a solo captain america movie?? or the avengers??

hope to see sometime in the future crossover movies involving dc & marvel...

Both from what I understand. Marvel has done a great job of stitching these past few movies together for The Avengers with hidden and special scenes leading up to it.

Hey folks, Harry here to restore your faith in the world - Multiple sources from MARVEL have confirmed that Derek Luke, of Spike Lee's MIRACLE AT ST. ANNA, doesn't know what he's talking about when it comes to Will Smith and CAPTAIN AMERICA. Marvel never offered the part, nor did they approach or entertain a conversation about Will Smith for CAPTAIN AMERICA. That said - I'm sure they have a few parts that they'd like him for, just not Captain America.

So there ya go. They haven't gone insane and we don't need to be confused, angry and scared about it anymore.
