I believe this is what was said

“You can put lipstick on a pig,” he said as the crowd cheered. “It’s still a pig.”

“You can wrap an old fish in a piece of paper called change. It’s still gonna stink.”

“We’ve had enough of the same old thing.”

A very dumb comment to make, on the part of Obama. I'm surprised at how many (quite frankly) stupid comments he has made since the GOP convention. If he's trying to erase the generally favorable impression voters have of him, he seems to be on the road to doing just that.

Very, very dumb politics, in my opinion .... and I think it'll backfire badly for Obama.

Please...keep running against George Bush...he isn't in the race, so it expends the liberal resources. John McCain is about as much like George Bush as YOU are.

If this was maverick McCain of about 10 years ago, it'd be one thing. I don't know what happened to that guy. I've listened to what he has to say and I don't hear change. I hear more of the same.

Really???

Just one HUGE difference, others will fill the rest in I am sure. So here it is:

McCain: We need to address global warming.
Bush: What global warming?

He didn't F up unless the media says he did. And so far, the media has made nothing of this. Don't expect them to, with the exception of Fox News Channel.

The media is facing such a huge backlash right now because of their treatment of Sarah Palin that they might just start running some of these stories.

Soccer/Hockey/Security moms are not REAL HAPPY about what the media has done to Sarah Palin.

Overall, he's towing the party line. At this point, you can't ignore global warming whether you think it's the natural cycle of the Earth or accelerated by man.

Each candidate is going to have to address global warming, the energy crisis, and health care whether they like it or not.

Wonder what it is that's got the Dems so up in arms over Sarah. Gosh they seem testy lately. She's not running for President.

I hope they keep hammering at her. It will do NOTHING but cost them votes and ultimately the election. Same thing with going after President Bush.

Except that the new Farmers Almanac just came out and said we are in for several years, if not decades of global cooling. A group of 20,000 physicists said the same, as have two research projects in Canada. It's hype. You know how I know - because I grew up in the decade where global cooling was the scare. I'm an independent, which means I don't have a dog in any of these races. I can see the BS that spills from both sides. Why do you think the term has changed from Global Warming to Climate Crisis? It's not warming any longer.

The Sun is 333,000 times bigger than earth and we are in its playground. The Moon moves farther and farther away each year, causing us to very slowly slow down. To think what we drive is going to affect us by a degree when the sun has kept us up and down by several degrees is just plain nuts. I know it’s all the rage, but there are too many recent studies to say we are headed into a cooling period. I was all about worrying about Global Warming at first, but I see it for what it is now.

You are really getting on my nerves. The only thing I've posted from a right leaning source in recent memory is the dispute of the AP (Obama Campaign's) FACT CHECK on Palin.

RE: the pig comment

Today you made a comment on the campaign trail that "you can put lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig."

Ummmm. We need to talk. Now.

There is a serious concern among the American people at the moment: we're concerned that you sound more desperate with each passing day. Today's "pig comment" is 'Exhibit A'.

Your comment suggesting that Palin is a pig (and, yes, that is what you meant, and how it was interpreted) is unlikely to help with your recent polling problems. And they are big problems.

According to Gallup (the most reputable polling firm for presidential elections), John McCain and Sarah Palin have opened up a 15-point lead over you among independents. McCain now gets 52% of independents. You get 37%. Ouch.

What's worse (for you), you've sounded weirdly misogynistic in the last few weeks. First, you spurned Hillary Clinton's hope to be your running mate. Then you badmouthed Sarah Palin as being "unqualified" (even though she has credentials no worse than yours). Then your campaign minions called into question Sarah Palin's ability to be a good mother, Sarah Palin's ability to raise her children (re: her daughter's pregnancy), and Sarah Palin's choice to have her baby, rather than have an abortion.

Now you call her "a pig" (and, again, yes -- that is what you meant).

I'm not sure if you've figured this out in your personal life, but women generally hate to be compared to barnyard animals. (Might want to jot this one down.) And worse (for you): women tend to band together against men who call one of their own "fat" or "a pig". (I've learned this one the hard way, my friend. Ask one of many current or former members of multiple social sororities in the Great Lakes tri-state area.)

Oh, and that Gallup poll again: you've lost ground among not only men, but women too. Ten days ago, your opponent, John McCain was getting 42% of women in that poll. Now it's 46%. Ouch. At this rate, you're going to lose a majority of men and women by election day. Men and women. There's not much in between -- just some hermaphrodites and trannies with their meats-and-two-veggies duct-taped back under. And, yes, after watching the Democratic Convention, I can safely say that you've secured their vote. But if that's all you're going to win, it's going to be a very, very lonely November, my friend.

My campaign advice for the next 56 days: stop the stupid personal attacks. They're beneath you. What excited people about your candidacy early on was the possibility that you'd be the first "post-racial" candidate, that you'd be a president who could unite the country across party lines and racial lines. Americans were cautiously optimistic that you'd be a Democrat who could transcend his party's notoriously beholden interests and make Americans feel good about being Americans again. Americans are radical optimists, in the best sense. Calling people "pigs" does not tap into that wellspring of good humanity.

If you want to talk further with me about your strategy, don't hesitate to call me this weekend. I'll be at one of several Delta Gamma houses in the mid-Atlantic region.

I was stunned when I heard that comment on the radio this morning. Un-fucking-believable.

Another thing I heard today was that Sarah Palin's jab at BO regarding him being a 'community organizer' was a RACIST remark. HUH....? Say what??? OK, she was sarcastic, and perhaps a little bitchy, but racist? There is NO way that anyone should glean racism from that comment, and any attempt to do so is just trying to make something out of nothing. Hey dumbass, people of all colors and races live in rural AND urban areas. Trust me, I know. I've lived in both.

Both sides have their faults, but this shit is getting ridiculous.
