What is your hot button issue this election? I just looking to see what the various issues are as seen by people here. This is neither a for or against poll. After I see the 2 biggest issues I will refine the poll.

Energy and Economy.....everyting else is a non-issue. Well, the war thing has got my boxer briefs in a bunch. But ultimately, it doesn't affect me....so.

I have an almost 21 year old son and a 16 year old son. National security is a VERY big issue for me.

The Economy with Energy running a close second followed by National Security...I guess I should have voted for the mixture.

The biggest issues for EVERY election are getting conservatives in office, any office.
I control my money, not some liberal that says what is mine is also everyone else's.
I control my job and my future. Everyone is responsible for themselves.
Less government. More personal responsibility.
Live simply.

a variety of issues matter to me. i feel like i'd get jumped on big time for stating my positions among the conservative majority here, so i'll just punch my ballot and pray.

I never understand why abortion is brought up as an issue in an election, it will never be over-turned-its the law.
We don't bring up other laws to overturn and discuss? I know its a huge deal, I'm not making light of that but why
is it brought up in the elections? its a non-starter.
If abortion was outlawed in our society there would be all kinds of illegal things going on in the medical
world-so ? that's not going to happen-ever.

The candidates can say what they "believe in" all they want, but they can't make huge changes fast, no way.
Obama can say he wants to bring the troops home-that would take years even if he started now...we're there just
like we are around the world, not going to happen.

are you kidding? mccain said he would overturn roe v wade (this is after he supported roe v. wade). the next president will be appointing a large number of judges..... just a vote away and bam! it isn't about abortion, but the right for the individual woman to choose. no person or entity should make a personal choice for an individual capable of making their own decision, imo of course.

and I agree with you if you'll read what I wrote, but he won't be able to do it, ever...the masses would rise up and
storm the castle...

I notice an absence of votes or comments for the War in Iraq. Just an observation.

Don't be afraid. Speak your mind. We'll be kind but disagree. I'm interested.

I technically voted for the economy but #1 is illegal aliens (which I include as economy. Some may have said national security but I think that is thought of as the war). Neither major party is giving me my answer. Also, outsourcing of good jobs is a concern.

Abortion and sex ed... I didn't start paying attention to the election til Palin came in, because her views on those are scary.

[sarcasm]But they only become a child after they are born. Don't you know that they are just a POC (Product of Conception), lump of flesh, or fetus before they're born and that it magically transforms into a baby at the instant of birth?[/sarcasm]

That people get so heated in discussions in this site, that they take personal hateful shots at anyone who has a differing oppinion. We all have a view. We will all not agree. And I joke about politics, and goofy people in politics. But if you get ugly with me, I don't wish to talk to you. It is one thing to have a grown up discussion, anouther to be a jerk and be hateful.

Key Issues
- Economy
- Energy

Candidate Wishes
- real substance, not sound-bytes
- a consolidated viewpoint
- no lobby ties

What strikes me every 4 years is to hear of so many folks fed up with the system, it's lack of 'out of the box' thinking, making things happen, focus on getting a few things done versus promises of many with no accountability...and now that it's time to vote again, people get sucked back in to actually thinking one can change things.

I'm not digging either candidate.
