Please if they ask you to evacuate please do it. Ike is no storm to be messing with. They showed on the tube tonight that around the eye they are recording 40 ft wave heights and if it gets to CAt 4 or 5 strength and it hits houston, over half a million homes would be under water. So please be safe and cautious and not sorry and foolish and get out. The rest of the country is praying for all of your safety.

Hope all our TX friends will be safe and untouched by the storms. We were just planning a get-together for TX-based Plokkers (and strays like me) in the AP forum an hour ago. Look forward to meeting you, and all safe and sound!

Looking very serious, the storm is HUGE!!

It's not very strong yet but in terms of diameter, the storm has almost the same amount of tropical storm force winds being pumped out as Katrina did.

The thing is so big in size that it almost covers the entire gulf! If it strengthens to a Cat 3 or 4, and makes landfall at that strength, there will be widespread destruction.

Crazy Deb lives RIGHT where it is predicted to go ashore ... tell us what your plans are, Chica; I know you can check in on the evil IPhone, and we need to know you are staying safe. We've got other Texas coastal bend regulars here too ... please be careful, everyone.

thanks Layton. my granddaughter (and her parents) are bugging out from Houston to OKC tomorrow by plane.

we are boarded up here in Corpus. my hubby fell yesterday and injured his already messed up chest cavity so we are stuck. we are fairly far inland so we'll be ok.

thanks for the report on Kathy and Megan.
