OT: Neighbors From Hell

OK, I need to vent. Even if no-one reads this it feels good to get it out!

We have these stupid-ass trailer trash neighbors with a couple of young bratty kids. No respect for anyone, lawn gets mowed maybe once a year – basically they shouldn’t own a home. Almost every weekend we have to put up with the drunken noise from the party in their cesspool of a hot-tub (which I don’t believe they’ve cleaned since they set it up 3 years ago). For awhile now, Mr. Stoopid has been idling his something-ton commercial diesel vehicle in the driveway (right outside our bedroom window) every morning at 5:30 for about 30 minutes while he goes back in the house to do god-knows-what (I’d guess shower but that might be a stretch). AND he also drains the air tank almost every morning. Just lovely to be awakened by that every morning before I’m ready to get up.

This morning I’d finally had enough and left a note asking him if this was absolutely necessary and asking him to PLEASE (yes I said please) stop. But I also used the phrase “at 5:30 in the fucking morning”. Well – Mrs. Stoopid (who happens to hold a mindless part-time job at the company I work for) just called and tore a strip off me for my “rudeness” and “unprofessionalism”, ranting on and on how her husband has to do this because the vehicle runs on diesel fuel, and he has to work (don’t we all?) – blah, blah, blah. Oh – and she’s going to keep my note as “proof” (of what, I don’t know – I’m assuming she thinks because I hold a management position where we both work, she can somehow hold against me the fact that I used the word “fucking” in my note???) Oh – and she suggested we should move it we didn’t like it. Dumb bitch has no idea who she’s dealing with. We gave them lots of chances and now the gloves are off – phoned the bylaw enforcement officer and they’ll be dealing with it next week. I really hate to do that, was hoping we could resolve it on our own, but they're just too fucking (there, I said it again) ignorant!!!

Don’t ever live next door to someone you work with, especially in a small town. Had I known when we bought the house . . . (and I am NOT moving).

Cocktail time – think I’ll have a triple.

I get why you're pissed, that is a bitch to put up with. But the truck has to idle for a while to warm up. Especially if it is an older rig. Those things can be temperamental as hell if you don't let them get pumping before you take off. I know a lot of "trailer trash" truck drivers (all great people  ) and they all have to do, or at least do that. So I figure there's a purpose. :)

I think that used to be the case with older vehicles, that's why we cut them some slack for awhile when he had an older one. But this is an almost brand new vehicle, and from everything I've been reading (see I even did some research  ) none of the experts seem to think it's a good idea - at least not for 30 minutes. And trust me, these 2 are not great people - many many other stories, this is just the latest.

(And thanks for reading :) )

I take it that Mr Schoopid is disturbing your peace. The bylaw enforcement officer probably be bringing an instrument to measure the power of the noise coming from Mr Schoopid's mansion. I hate inconsiderate neighbors..

That's an understatement  - it basically sounds like I have an industrial air compressor in bed beside me for a half hour. Oh wait - that'd be my husband snoring  .

In some cities, it would be against the law for him to have the rig on residential property. You'd have to check with your local parking and traffic enforcement people. As for the lawn mowing and hot tub...building and safety and health dept.

These people sound pretty obnoxious to live next to. That being said, I do think Mrs. Trailer Trash has a legitimate knock on you regarding the unprofessionalism. Now, I don't know if you've talked to them about it before or not, so if not, this isn't fair criticism - but you probably should have gone over, kept your head about you, and done it face to face. I get fired up and swear a lot too when it comes to these things, I've had to really train myself to try and take the high road. But, hopefully the bylaw officer straightens their asses out. But I do think you should have tried to go over there face to face, as obnoxious as they are - might have gone badly, but the worst they could have said about you was you came over and asked them nicely to stop/change things. Then you could have gotten the officer involved either way. Oh well, they sound pretty worthless.

That's what we're hoping for (the bylaw officer is on vacation until next week  so we couldn't get an answer today). Unfortunately we're a small town very quickly growing into a small city, so they haven't quite figured out all those 21st century laws yet  .

You folks probably won't believe me but you can ask those that live near me, I'm sure RedWingFan has heard me
once or twice over the river, I'm beyond loudly at times.
I do however bake pies and perogies for those in ear shotness of my sailor mouth.
We have never had a problem here but I know we've disturbed others at times.

shit i called the law to an upstairs neighbor who walked outside the other night and at random fired his shotgun off a couple times when he was drunk.the law came and told me that its not against the law to own a gun, lol.this motherfucker has a deisel truck too and leaves all hours of the night making fucking racket and shit so i know what you deal with there.seems like these days the damn criminals are coddled like fucking new borns while us taxpaying hard workers get the shaft.try to live in peace and you always have that one fucker who spoils it for everyone and ruins a good community.

this same guy's wife left him last week so he knocks on our door and asks us to call the law because his wife and her new boyfriend came and cleaned the place out.so we do this and then the bastard knocks on our door spilling his heart out so i told my wife don't answer the door no more we ain't fucking shrinks and i'm tired of being bothered by his drunk ass.he gets in fights with roommates while drunk at two in the morning and wakes my damn kids up.believe me i know all about dealing with fucked up neighbors and be prepared for the law to try and butter shit up.sometimes you just have to figure out alternative ways of dealing with the bullshit even if it does mean a lil sugar in the 'ol gas tank.

Alright, Rhi but why in hell's he taking the work truck home?

Shouldn't the thing be parked at a company lot or something, or maybe he's in biz for himself...
what's the story on that TripleS?

Way I see it right now a truck like that's got no business being parked regularly in a residential area.

In more rural areas it's more common to see truckers bringing them home. If it's his own rig and stuff, I think what happens is they get the call for a haul and then they go out, get it, do their thing, come home. Most of the truckers I know keep their rigs at their house. But we're talking out in BFE Southern America here, this dude may be in some suburb or subdivision that's more crowded...

How about those "considerate" neighboors who block the sidewalk with their trashcans the night before trashday (because their precious grass between the sidewalk and street can't have the cans on it).

As a matter of course when walking my kids I ram the damn things with the stroller or pick them up and lay them sideways on the lawn itself.

Our cans HAVE to be on the grass between the sidewalk and street so that the trash truck can pick them up. However, it doesn't bother me a bit if someone puts them on the sidewalk. It's not that hard to walk around it. Now people parking over the sidewalk with their vehicles so that you have to walk out in the street is another story.
