After seeing the great job Cain/Pineda did with Feeling That Way/Anytime again, I went looking for some of my other old favorites. Just wish these were original as well, but I still love the music.

gosh, i love journey. who needs vox? i thought i had died and gone to heaven when i heard these live.

Gotta say I love that early stuff too. "Karma" and "Nickel & Dime" among others will always have a place in my heart. "Midnight Dreamer" is also pretty cool if you're in the mood for some of that further out vibe.

"Of a Lifetime" is one of my all-time favorite songs by any artist.. delightful tune..

and the self-titled debut ranks as one of my favorite albums.

I honestly listen to pre-Perry material just as much as, if not more than the Perry-era stuff and beyond.

Rolie, Schon, Dunbar... great combo of jammers there... and Ross's best playing was actually in the early years (excluding Escape album and One More, of course)

I've got to say, though, I think Cain had a hell of a lot more influence on shifting the sound than Perry did. Perry/Rolie has a lot more pre-Perry-prog feel than any of the post-Rolie stuff. Pity, 'cause Rolie is God.

Agreed.

Perry seemed very comfortable and in-place with the material that retained the mystical early-Journey vibe, such as "Winds of March," "Daydream," and "People and Places."

The first time I saw Journey was in early 76 and they had just released "Look Into The Future" They "Rocked" back then!! I Love that era of Journey. The "Pre-Perry" times!
