Anyone else attend the St. Louis show? It was so great! I got to meet Jon in the middle of the show. I was able to go backstage to meet him. He was so nice! He autographed some things for me, gave me a hug, and we spoke briefly. He was so sweet, and treated me so kindly. The show was outstanding. Arnel was in rare form, and jumped all over the place. The Cheep Trick and Heart performances were great as well. Neal started off the Journey portion of the show with the Star Spangled banner and beautiful scrims showing fireworks behind him. Awesome! It was so HOT! The humidity had everyone sweating! I look horrible in the picture, we were all drenched in sweat, it was so hot Jon had to keep drying his arms and equipment off during the show. I will share more maybe tomorrow!

I'm really thrilled for you, looks like you were in 7th heaven.

Gunbot I am still realing. Jon said some truely nice things to me. He is a great guy. I had VIP seats and a backstage pass. I sat 10th row dead middle. I could see it all! I will share more later! Arnel's voice sounded great!

I'm so glad you had such a great time. Beautiful work you did for Jon's charities and I'm glad you got a chance to meet him. Can't wait to hear your review of the show.

The show was indeed amazing! I thought Heart was gonna steal the show, until the band hit the stage and literally the place exploded. I was with some friends who had not heard much of Arnel. All they kept talking about was his unbelievable voice and energy. I'm off to Kansas City to see them tonight!

Folks, bear with me, I will probably do this in peices, I am job hunting as well this week.

Cheap Trick started the show off and did a great job. I love all three bands and none were a disappointment! The suprise came during Cheep Tricks song "The Flame". My husband has been a long standing Cheap Trick fan, and this is his song for me. Guess who came on stage to do the keyboards? Jonathan Cain! So our favorite song by Cheap Trick was accompanied by my favorite keyboard player of all time! Then he helped them on two more songs.....Surrender and Dream Police. During Dream Police I had to make my way to the place I was told to go to meet Jon. My backstage pass and tickets were for guest of band member. My backstage pass has JON written across it. There were 30 people backstage to meet him and Ross. But I don't think Ross showed up. (I did not see him). Jon talked to all of us individually, signing autographs and taking pictures with us when asked. I joked around with him while he was signing autographs and asked him if he was developing carpel tunnel from all the writing, at first he said "What?" Then when he heard me he laughed softly and said, "No." But he had a grin from ear to ear. When he got to me, he autographed a photo of the drawing I did for the charity, and I asked him if they liked the quilts I had made for them. He looked at me and said, "We love everything you make." He said it so sincerely, and he looked me in the eye. I told him to tell Liz something for me. He smiled and shook his head. I asked him for a hug, and he gave me one. I told him I have been a fan of yours for a long time. And that I love how he played The Flame, and that it was our favorite Cheap Trick song. I also told him he had done a wonderful job on it. He just grinned, and said thanks. He went to sign some more autographs and we waited to try and get a photo with him. I tried to wait until everyone had a chance to get autographs and photos. Towards the end I asked Jon if I could get one photo with him, he came over put his arm on my shoulder and posed with me. I then told him he was a great musician, and that I loved his work. He actually blushed, and said Ah....Thank you........he was grinning so much! He was such a nice man, and we were only supposed to be there 20 minutes, but he stayed around 30 to greet with all of us.

We were there 12th row dead center.

I will be the first to admit that I am not a huge Journey fan. But we were in town and decided to go to the show.

Yes it was very hot. The show was sold out and lines for the bathroom and drinks were ridiculous.

Cheap Trick was a good opener. But they really shouldn't let Tom Peterson sing.

Heart was great.

I was surprised and blown away by Journey. The sound was awesome. All the vocals were great and Arnel was a dynamo. At times I was thinking he could do Perry better than Perry. The guy sang like a monster, was all over the stage and was full of energy.

I saw Journey with Augieri (spl?) and there is no comparison.

St. John I read it just now, what a great review! I bet you were so excited! As for letting you live, well, we all say and do things we later regret. I bet they are glad you now have a bit of a change of heart. I sometimes fly off the cuff then later regret the way I handled things, we all do. I am going to try and be better about handleing little irritations with people on this site. The Scottish in me I guess..........LOL! For the most part I love to live in peace.

I love Jonathan, any man who can write the songs he has written has my heart.

Turn Down the World Tonight is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard. I had the opportunity to tell him that this tour, he looked me in the eye and said 'thank you very much'..you could tell he was sincere and truly thankful.

Oh, forgot to mention my husband got an autograph on the Revolutions CD, and my son got one on a sleave to Jon's solo project "Where I live". After the M and G., we went back to our seats. Heart had started while we were with Jon so I missed the first two songs. We could hear them, just couldn't see. Heart was rumored to not be coming to the show, this was told to me by a worker before it started, apparently Ann has been sick for a few days. You couldn't tell it though. She was belting it out! Man that woman has a pair of lungs! Wonderful sets! I don't see how those ladies could perform in all those layers of heavy fabric! It was so hot! Nancy is one of my favorite female guitarists. She can really play. She also runs around a lot.
I said earlier how Journey started with Neal and the Star Spangled Banner. My son, who liked Journey "some" became quite taken in by their performance! He was singing, yelling, and had his hands pumping for most of their show! I had to laugh! The band put on a stellar performance. Arnel once leaned over and said" I can feel all the love from here" and he motioned to the audiance. I think he was having a wonderful time himself! He spun several times, jumped off of the stands in the front and the drum stand, and ran all over. He flat out nailed "Wheel in the Sky". I have to admit I cried during "After all these years". My husband and I held each other, and it was a special moment. It was so hot, by the end of the set Jon had only a vest on. As I told you, he had to keep a towl around to soak up the sweat on his arms and keyboards. I imagine on stage it was even hotter with the lights and all the moving they did. Jon threw out a lot of pics. Wish I had went down and looked for some when the show was over, but I was tired and I wanted to go back to the hotel. We waited a long time for the cars to leave. Many people were blitzed out of their gords! Cops were waiting to catch drunks outside the venue. We went to Denny's for a bite, then to the hotel. It was a great night!

Glad you got to meet Jonathan! He's a wonderful person! Sooooooo talented! And, by the way, Ross was backstage. He spent about 20 minutes with us at a table and then left to go get ready to perform.

The show was very awesome!!! So glad me and wifey came up from Memphis to see it. Ann Wilson still has an incredible set of pipes Arnel really sang well and communicated to the crowd...we were very impressed. Hope to meet some of you next time we go to see Journey

Glad to hear you had such a great time (except for the heat) and got to meet!

I thought Cheap Trick started off pretty weak, but finished strong. Heart was terrific. Ann Wilson still has every inch of that voice of hers, and Nancy Wilson is very talented, and still quite the looker. When Journey came on, it was a little weird to see Arnel up there at first, but he really did a nice job. I was impressed. My wife, who knew nothing about Arnel, other than he was the new singer, made the comment that although he sounded great, she thought he was trying a little too hard with his performance - on several occasions he made almost hip-hop-esque hand motions, trying to get the crowd into it. I don't fault him for that stuff - I think he's just trying to find his place with the band and with the audience, and he'll figure it out soon enough.

Personally, I was a little disappointed with the set list (too much Infinity, too little Frontiers), but that's just me. I've heard 'em all before. That wasn't going to detract me from having a great time, and we did have a great time. We both bought t-shirts, too!

Good review, Belar. I think you missed Only The Young? Been played pretty regularly. As for Escape...of course people sat down...that song blows. I see I'm not the only person that can't stand that song. I know a lot of people like it, but I find that it takes too long to get going. Glad you and your wife had a good time.

You're right. I forgot Only The Young and Ask The Lonely. I was thinking through each album to list what they played and missed those two. Duh.

Escape has always been one of my personal favorites, but to each their own, right? It wouldn't have been so bad except there was a guy about 4 rows behind us that was yelling "Thank you!" everytime people sat down. He was upset that people were standing and blocking his view. I wonder if he had ever attended a concert before.

You're right. I forgot Only The Young and Ask The Lonely. I was thinking through each album to list what they played and missed those two. Duh.

People like that need to go home! Attend the Boston Symphony. There was a woman in front of us who kept plugging her ears everytime the audiance would sing! Then when Journey came on she would sing a few. She sat down most of the concert. If you want to set down and everyone to be silent during a concert, stay away from rock concerts!

Our whole row sang to agrivate the lady who wanted us all to sit and be quiet. Thought she would enjoy it more.
