Life After Journey For Arnel?

What do you think will happen to Arnel when he leaves Journey?

With or without Journey, I think Arnel has made his mark and has a good chance at solo success when the time comes.

Really depends on if and when Arnel will go off on his own. If it's at the end of his ability to sing well, he probably won't be going on to doing a solo successful career.

I think Arnel will be with Journey as long as he can. I would think at the minimum five years. Then he will have total financial security and enough money to take care of his family and extended family members also. Once he leaves Journey, he will have more success than he had before Journey because of name recognition and his Filipino fan base that will only get larger and larger as these next years go by with Journey. Couple that with his huge likability factor. and he'll do fine. It also will depend on his voice, obviously. But as strong as they're going with Arnel, after they tour for these next three to five years, I see them winding down a bit but still touring for years, just reduced dates. In that case, I would think Arnel would stay on. That will be who he is by then identity-wise and it would be hard to leave. But that's just my dream.

Isn't this question COMPLETELY PREMATURE?

Let's just see how this plays out. IMHO AP has done much to show how well he "fits" Journey. It's a good fit and if played right, will continue to be.

I THINK IF/WHEN THEY LOSE HIM
IF THEY CONTINUE(WITHOUT BRINGING BACK SA/SP)
THEY WILL BE IN THE SITUATION THAT STYX IS IN
OPENING FOR SOMEONE INSTESD OF HEADLINING

....maybe they will open for DISTURBED! How appropriate if the big boys will not take care of him!

:D :D :D :D :D

on the serious side, I guess he will be more prominent of Philippine entertainment scene because of his new found popularity nowadays.

Actually, Styx has headlined a ton. The only time they've not headlined is this Boston Tour and the Def Leppard tour which is actually a split bill.

I think he'll have a lot of success as a solo artist in the Philippines. As far as America, probably not. Even though Journey has had some success with this album, Arnel is still basically an unknown.

My prediction is that Arnel will end up fronting Foreigner or Boston after their current lead singers retire. Barack Obama will legalize stem cell research, allowing Steve Perry to get a new (but controversial) procedure called "vocal chord regeneration" done in early 2009. Perry will then be reuniting with Journey for a 2009-2010 world tour.

You heard it here first!

 Heck...forget about vocal regeneration. They'll just get stem cells and clone another Steve Perry, Neal Schon, and Jon Cain and Journey will be touring until about 2050!

Hell, why not get all of them together including Augeri, JSS, Pineda, Kunsicker, Valenti, and several other Perry impersonators to go on tour with Journey. That way they could all take turns singing three Journey songs each, and none of them would blow their voices out. Who knows... maybe The Voice himself might show up and sing three?

It would be one big happy family!

Keep in mind Arnel is not a native English speaker.

Typical bullshit stunt by Rolling Stone...they probably have Penis Envy, because all the talentless bands they propped up over the years have crashed and burned, and Journey is more of a force and more popular than they have been in 20 years. If you read between the lines, it's clear that asshole writer pulled a cut-and-paste job.

Everything is fine. He knows he has the best gig in the world.

he has plenty of options ranging from being a movie star to going into politics back in the Philippines.
but i think he will invest his money and retires comfortably back in the Philippines. ( i think this is further down the road.. 5 years or more)

I think Arnel would try to stay in America permanently in the future. He used to fly regularly to Hongkong to get his passport stamped so he won't lose whatever visa status he's got there. If he goes to that big hassle just so he could potentially stay and work in Hongkong, I am sure he would grab every opportunity to stay permanently in the states. He can still go to the Philippines from time to time to do bits of projects there just like what the other Fil-Am showbiz personalities are doing.
