The Latest News...

Postby Andrew » Fri Sep 26, 2008 11:00 am

I just swapped some mails with Kevin Shirley (Caveman) and he gave me the ok to post this message:

"All is well in the Journey camp, really! I have spoken to Arnel this week (quote me if you like). They have cancelled some shows for this year, 'tis true, but there are HUGE plans for next year, including new material, and all that follows.... Arnel has been working flat out, and needs a) to recap and take a rest, and b) see his family!!"

So - great news all-round there I think folks and certainly no need to jump to any wild conclusions.

You read it here first :)

Good to see them giving Arnel some down time. No way is anybody going to be able to sing that catalogue for long spurts, so I sure hope they continue to allow him to rest his pipes as often as he needs to. Thanks for sharing the update, Andrew.

Duh twice. Did I not say in the other thread to stop listening to a bunch of DJs who don't know shit about shit and use entertainment magazines as sources for all their on-air banter?

Entertainment magazine  :? :? You can't take any of it too seriously.

Seriously though. I would bet without touring you will see Revelation sales drop a lot. Album has had a good run, but it will still be sad.

I know AP needs the rest, I was hoping he would hold up, but you gotta do what's right. Guess that gives me plenty of time to work on next year.

Because you're making shit up, that's why. You started that.
But if you need to pretend it was me talking about wet panties to get you there faster, go right ahead.
Just wipe up after and don't get any on the keyboard. I hear that's bad for electronics.

This is what I've been hoping for. With the Asian leg of the tour being added on in February or March, three weeks off for the guys after Octobre 5 and then coming back for some more shows was just too much. Arnel needs some uninterrupted time for his voice and family and so do the other guys. Smart decision. I knew Neal and Jon would do right by Arnel.

Thank goodness ... cancelled shows suck for fans, but I really hated the idea that Arnel's dream gig might be ending so soon.

I told everyone to relax and go have a cream soda. But no one wanted to listen. Don't think the economy being up in the air didn't have anything to do with the cancellation of a proposed fall tour.

Sounds like Arnel isn't able to handle their schedule. I mean, geez, the dude just started with them and he needs a break from the road and to go home? When did Journey ever just agree to start cancelling concerts, giving up a big chunk of change, if their singer isn't REALLY sick? I guess they decided that their meal ticket for the next two touring years needs some slack.
Wow....does that mean they finally learned something about how to keep a singer, or just that the profits from touring the next two years that he still has a visa will be more lucrative? Yeah, though so.

In the last 24 hours, I've told everyone to relax and have a glass of milk, eat a sandwich, and have a cream soda. These are all from one of my favorite movies: Midnight Run.

:?: When are they expected to hit the studio? I'm guessing January at the latest, if they want another summer release and will Kevin Shirley be producing this next album?

Even at that rate, Journey was more prolific than some of their 80's peers who have flat out given up on new stuff.
Still, nothing like a hit record to light a creative fire under their asses.
To think after 'Arrival' flopped, Cain mentioned/half-threatened only to release mini-EPs from here foreward.

I saw the list of tours Perry did somewhere on here. I think the 1 alone was 180 dates. Arnel won't last anywhere near that kind of touring.
