OT - A song for your child

If you could pick a song that best describes your feelings for your child(ren), or a song that has a message you would like conveyed to your child(ren) - what would it be?

I know it's corny, but I like 'With Arms Wide Open', by Creed....it really captures what is felt when you hear that you are about to be a father.

And that's exactly what that song was written for. When Stapp was going to be a father.

This is from the Mamma Mia soundtrack, which means originally it was an Abba song. It made me cry both time I saw it and it is how I imagine I will feel when my 2 daugters grow up and are ready to move on:

Mother's Prayer~ quest for Camelot

My baby just got married. This is my prayer. Hopefully my species will not be harmed in thinking it. LOL!

A MOTHER'S PRAYER
By Celine Dion

I pray you'll be my eyes
And watch her as she goes
And help her to be wise

Help me to let go

Every mother's prayer
Every child knows
Lead her to a place
Guide her with your grace
To a place where she'll be safe

I pray she finds your light
And holds it in her heart
As darkness falls each night
Remind her where you are

Every mother's prayer
Every child knows
Need to find a place
Guide her with your grace
Give her faith so she'll be safe

Lead her to a place
Guide her with your grace
To a place where she'll be safe

I love that one, Kel..beautiful song for Miss O.

Mine would have to be Rod Steward's Forever Young...

May the good Lord be with you
down every road you roam

and may sunshine and happiness aurround you

when you're far from home.
And may you grow to be proud
dignified and true

and do onto others as you'd have done to you.
Be courageous and be brave

and in my heart you'll always stay forever young
forever young.

May good fortune be with you
may your guiding light be strong.
build a stairway to heaven with a prince or a vagabond.
And may you never love in vain
and in my heart you will remain
forever young
forever young
forever young
forever young

forever young
forever young.

And when you finally fly away

I'll be hoping that I've served you well

for all the wisdom of a lifetime no one can ever tell.
But whatever road you choose
I'm right behind you
win or lose

forever young
forever young
forever young
forever young

forever young
forever young
for-forever young
forever young !

Hush my love now don’t you cry
Everything will be all right
Close your eyes and drift in dream
Rest in peaceful sleep

If there’s one thing I hope
I showed you
Hope I showed you

Just give love to all

Oh my love…in my arms tight
Every day you give me life
As I drift off to your world
Will rest in peaceful sleep

I know there’s one thing that
you showed me
That you showed me

Just give love to all
Let’s give love to all

Don't get me started! There are a number of songs I would sing to or play for my sons....many that are inspiring....but one in particular I would sing every morning at breakfast....
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u637ZBUTRpw

and as they got older this was their reaction to it.....
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v2_6ODsOong

I'm a goofy mom, but hey...you've got to teach them to laugh and be silly as well as all the other life lessons...besides love, laughter may be the most important thing to give them.

On a more serious note...I did play many love songs for them as well...
and then the circle of life continues...
here are two I recently sang to my new granddaughter....

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K9L_3Y-rZps well on this one I skipped over a few verses...haha!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xIAWY4LLsEw may she always sing and dance

my Trevor's eyes were magical. an angel destined for more than earth could offer. when we were in our early days of grieving, Dean played some Corrs. this song hit me hard with memories of Trevor and his deep pool blue eyes.

God love this boy, my singing would actually calm him  the many nights of pacing the floor, swaying, singing... i'm a lucky woman.

Perfect!

We have given that CD to each of our grandchildren.

They have fallen to sleep to it almost ever night since then.

They all love it.

How about this original song " ANAK" ( MY CHILD) from FILIPINO SINGER / COMPOSER, i think it was translated in almost 30 languages and IMO was one of the best song i'ved heard, the lyrics, the guitar and the vocal were enough for me to cry , it's very touching and can relate to every parents and sons or daughters and a reality of life. it was sang in TAGALOG w/ complete english version.

I Am But A Small Voice:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7QZ8XwDT808

Partly goes:

I am but a small voice
I am but a small dream
The fragrance of a flow'r
In the unpolluted air

I am but a small voice
I am but a small dream
To smile upon the sun
Be free to dance and sing
Be free to sing my song to ev'ryone

Come young citizens of the world
We are one, we are one
Come young citizens of the world
We are one, we are one

We have one hope
We have one dream
And with one voice
We sing...

Peace, prosperity
And love for all mankind

Bob Carlisle, "Butterfly Kisses". WAY sappy song, but brought me to tears the first time I heard it. My oldest of three daughters, Alyssa, was just a baby at the time and we were in the car going on a "date" with her at home with a babysitter.
