Post your favorite love song(s), with or without clips.

Extra points if its from a rock band. Less points if its from Celine Dion.

Here's mine:

Foreigner - IDWTLWY

Well, this is my current favourite love song - http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=oKE2hmgzUgo "It's Because I Love You" by Aussie rock legends The Masters Apprentices.

But....well, this is the love song I've loved the longest... since I was two...

I mean squishy love songs are great too, like When You love A Woman and Faithfully and a lot of the 80s power ballad ilk. But I also like the "darker, regretful" ballads

First, from the great Frankie Valli:

My Eyes Adored You - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GukDGcDl ... re=related - Pretty touching song, and the way the vocals fit together rhythmically would please even the most constipated Poetry 101 teacher

The Guess Who - These Eyes - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mra9aUOwwfA - One of Burton's toughest vocals, and that's saying a lot. He's still in great voice today, but this one is tough for him nowadays. Great song, plenty of emotion

Todd Rundgren - It Wouldn't Have Made Any Difference - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ED8I3ekuujQ - More great harmonies on a darker ballad. Todd is god.

and of course just to work some MR in:

Toto - Out of Love - Great lyrics, a gospelesque chorus, and Luke playing restrained but very emotional - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FUx_FpJ55EM

Toto - I'll Be Over You - Same description as above, plus a little Michael McDonald added for taste - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VgIvXE3TCiA

Then a nice squishier ballad from Steve Perry's friend, David Pack:

Ambrosia - You're The Only Woman - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GdfYninTutY - Great harmony, great falsetto, great groove, great song

And of course:

Beach Boys - God Only Knows - R.I.P Carl Wilson... :( - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cb9u0DHuFdQ

Hmm, I could go on forever... I'm pretty partial to the 60s and 70s when it comes to these kinda songs, the whole power ballad thing aside.

Random... I just ran to sbux and popped in a very old mix CD I made when I was about 19... it had on it one of my favorite <3 songs ever:

Great tune and a hard one to find on CD. I remember years ago when I had to track this song down for a gig I was doing...I had to pay over $30.00 to import it from some far away land!

"Someone Like You" by Van Morrison: http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=jPCGQ0CCXEA (just listen to the song, not the movie clips, I couldn't find a better one.)

And...I've always loved this song - long before Adam Sandler sang it in "Wedding Singer": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W-IL4tSg1x8

Chicago writes some amazing ballads! I love "If She Would have been faithfull", "Will you still love me", "What kind of man would I be". I've always been a huge fan, and love the vocal harmonies. I wish Cetera was still with the band though! It's just not the same with Scheff (or however you spell his name). His vocals just seem really thin and powerless to me compared to Cetera. Guess they cracked the stone?

Also a huge fan of "Open Arms". Cain has to be the master of ballads!

I hate Open Arms but I'm with ya on the Chicago stuff. The hardcore early fans will say that's when they jumped the shark, once they started the ballads. Whether it's comparing Van Hagar to DLR-fronted VH, Journey with their vocalists, Styx with or without DeYoung, Little River Banad without BSG, I tend to just listen to the music and decide if I like it for what it is - no different for me with Chicago. love all their eras.

It's funny you don't like Scheff but you mention those songs as some of your faves... because all three of those are not only post-Cetera, but Scheff dominated. Not sure if you realize that or not. Anyway, Jason's a great vocalist. I've seen him have a few off nights vocally live, and like Arnel, I think he shines most when he's singing the stuff he originally sang and not covering PC. He's got some power though. Bigger Than Elvis off of Stone of Sisyphus is my current fave Chicago ballad.

How about the Bill Champlin-sung You're Not Alone? GREAT tasteful lead guitar work on that one

Good pick Tammy. Van's mellow stuff is pretty good. Avalon Sunset has a few tunes mellow like this.

Another by him I like is "Hungry For Your Love". Couldn't find a clip of that one.

I actually did know that he sang those songs. I guess I should have clarified...I'm not a fan of his CURRENT voice. I've seen them live, and also own several Chicago dvd's...I'm not a fan at all of him live!

I compare him to Augeri, and before I get jumped on, I LOVE what Augeri did for the band as well as fans. We owe him a great debt for keeping this band alive. Augeri's voice was shot at the time he left the band though, and sounded terrible live! I'm sure his vocals have recovered somewhat since he left, and I can't wait to hear what he comes out with.

Back to Chicago though, Cetera just has something so unique in his vocals, and still to this day is an amazing singer! I just wish they'd patch it up and get back together.

Big Bill Champlin fan as well... but only his studio work. He sings weird as hell live, and always adds weird-ass notes on his vocals. I also wish that they'd play "Look away" in its original form instead of ALWAYS doing it on acoustic guitar. JMHO!

Jason's no spring chicken anymore so his voice has some off nights but I've seen him a couple times in the last few years where he kicked ass. He wasn't very good last year but he appeared to be sick - he kept drinking some weird thing that a stagehand kept filling up for him. Wasn't water. Also was visibly coughing up there. Scheff is nowhere near Augeri degradation on his voice either, whatever night you catch him on.

I love Bill Champlin's live singing. You never know what's coming :). They did do the electric Look Away as part of a Bill Champlin 80s medley last year... they also did I Don't Wanna Live Without Your Love, Look Away, and maybe one other song as part of that medley. Granted, it wasn't the entire version, but the electric piano, the guitar solos, and what not were all there. It was pretty cool. I think the acoustic Look Away is great though... Bill and Keith Howland sound GREAT on the harmony. I've seen both live.

Def... you might not like it that much. Lots of Champlin "soulisms" throughout. There might be a better quality video of this too... audio sounds very thin. I gotta go now as well though so you can dig around if you like
