It's swings and roundabouts. One time Steve has nothing but niceties for Schon , the next time it's war and vice versa.

As for the Schon interview you mentioned, I think Neal was particularly pissed at Perry for punching his pussy.

Neal is an emotional guy. Steve Perry didn't really want to be part of the band anymore but didn't want the name to continue on with a different singer. There's hard feelings when you split. Like a bad divorce. Everybody is where they want to be now. Neal is emotional and things don't always come out too good sometimes and Steve is smooth and almost always comes across better, but he definitely has his own issues, passive-aggressive. Don't look for a lovefest anytime soon.

I have never heard Perry say anything regarding Jon or Neal that was nasty or negative at all. Neal has mamy times and Jon has too plus some amusing faces. Be more specific.

SP had no harsh words whatsoever to say about NS, but NS blasted SP all the way to Hades and back.

So, is this really a personal war between 2 proud, stubborn egos or just a publicity ploy?

Neal is a fucking jerk, period, end of story! He's just pissed because Perry wouldn't keep burning his voice just to satisfy Neal's insatiable desire for touring. Perry has ALWAYS taken the high road when asked about the midget. Hell, even after all the drama and bullshit, Perry still goes out of his way to talk about what a brilliant musician Schon has always been. Unfortunately, Schon doesn't have any class. I hope Neal keeps burning through lead singers, and if there is any justice in the world, his fingers will fall off! Fuck him!

In Tasmania, yes, where I am, 1.37 (well, 1.38 now). What with eastern, central and western time, plus the southern states using Daylight savings and the northern, tropical states not using, Australia's now got 5 time zones going. Which is effing stupid, given that's for only 8 regions!

I think they've all been JERKS at one time or another.

Jonathan Cain - for being the one to fire Herbie Herbert when it was Steve pushing it. Should have made him make the call since Jon wasn't wholewheartedly onboard with that.

Steve Perry - for firing Ross Valory and Steve Smith for ROR and putting that hack studio drummer in the tour (Now, talk about loyalty.)

Neal Schon I don't blame for the touring in the early days. Perry talks about how driven he himself was. So was Jon. I blame Neal for allowing Steve Perry to take control of the band for ROR and TBF and allowing Ross and Steve Smith to be fired on ROR just to make Perry happy. He sold his soul to get Perry back. Same with Jonathan. I don't like the dynamics of that. Maybe that's why he was so angry. He needed him and knew it and gave up a lot of control.

OT -
I blame Neal Schon for not man-upping and personally speaking with JSS after JM informed him of being let go. They were in a band together before. I believe it was the right decision for Journey, but JSS really jumped in there and helped out and then was hurt by the way it was handled. Neal should have had a man-to-man sitdown after that out of respect to JSS. Jonathan too. JSS deserved no less than that.

Just to clear up any confusion you might have, I wasn't remotely "kidding". Every interview I see with Neal turns my stomach. He's a big mouth blowhard, who doesn't know when to shut his piehole. The guy has zero class. He has gone out of his way to badmouth Perry, and I think he's a dick. The reality is that Schon should thank his lucky stars EVERY day of his life, because without Perry's voice, Neal isn't out touring on the A.A.R.P. tour! Neal is an immense musician, and I would never give Perry the credit for Neal's obvious talents. That said, Neal isn't selling out a high school cafeteria if Perry's voice didn't put Journey on the map!

Nope, you don't  I'm too old to be chasing around old, washed up rock bands. I'd rather spend time with my son. It's much more rewarding. I honestly haven't considered the guys who have been touring since 1998 to even be "Journey". I know that most on this board do, but to me they're simply a tribute act, which I'm okay with. I simply connected with Journey's music because of Perry's insane talent, and have always been a passionate fan of the music the band put out. I think Perry, Cain, and Schon were one of the most formidable music trios ever assembled. I simply don't like the way Schon conducts himself and never have.

The truth is that Perry has never taken care of his voice. Was Neal responsible for Perry booking this ridiculous tour schedule in 1994 at the age of 45? Take a look at Nov. 14th-27th. At the age of 45, Perry booked FIVE days in a row and 11 shows in 14 nights!!! I don't think Neal booked these gigs for him. Perry has never known how to take care of his voice. This is proof.

Hmm. Is it just me or are the venues a lot smaller than what SP did when he was with Journey? Also, I wonder if these performances were as "intense" as they were during the Journey era? SP got a lot more mellow in regards to vocal output with FTLOSM.
Unfortunately, I didn't get to attend any of these as I was busy raising 2 sons.

Anyway, how do we "outsiders" know that SP didn't really take care of his voice? I read where he wouldn't talk before Journey performances in order to "save" his voice for the show.

They didn't have to be intensive shows, look at the youtube clips, his voice is ROR ragged x10. He was sounding like a two pack a day smoker when he pulled the plug on that tour.
