OT - First cast shots from new Star Trek TOS prequel/reboot

Ok, there was a favorite TOS episode topic, so I figured why not:

I think things are looking rather good for this movie, bridge is iffy, but I still think once we see more, it will all work out!!!

I'm still holding out hope. Here's why:
1) There's been a huge rumor going around for months now that both his and JJ's denial of his involvement in the project is a ruse/
2) The nature of the films plot. Without giving away too many spoilers, it involves time travel, amd the time line being changed/altered in some dramatic ways.
3) Nimoy is definitely in the film, so it isn't a total reboot.
4) Shatner's bio in his most recent books refers to "his ongoing role as Captain James T Kirk". A hint perhaps?
5) The absolute punk ass way they took out Jim Kirk in that abomination called GENERATIONS. Just go to any geek site (like aintitcool) and you can read ad naseum about thr fans displeasure with Kirk's death.

You're probably right, though. But a geek can hope!

Getting awfully tired of these re-sets/prequels/reimaginings...Batman Begins, Phantom Menace, Casino Royale, Diary of the Dead, Rob Zombie's Halloween...etc.

who's the Sulu guy? He's the only one I've seen before, but where have I seen him?

I kind of like the prequels. I think Batman Begins was amazingly good. I loved it. The Star Trek thing, it'll be hard not to have Shatner in there. Say what you want, but the guy IS Kirk.
Have any of you watched the 'episodes' on the web that some guys just started making and that you can download? They're pretty hokey in the way the characters look, but some of it is pretty cool (computer graphics, etc.). They use all the old music and stuff. Pretty cool idea if you're a Trek fan. I was sick at home one day and watched one of the early ones. Still pretty rough, but for 'some guys' to just make it without a lot of dough or anything, it was actually really good.

Speaking of Sulu being gay, did any of you catch the Shatner roast on Comedy Central a few years ago. It was THE funniest thing I've ever seen on TV. OMG it was hilarious.

I can live if Shatner doesn't show up even though it won't seem the same without him, because I watch him every week. I love, love, love him in Boston Legal this year. It's hysterical. I stopped watching it last year. But this year it focuses on his and James Spader's quirky relationship more. He's brilliant in it. :lol:

The first one was pretty cool...for a month...but this has been in the works TWO years or better...

As to the Kirk thing...I actually think the delay was to get Shatner on board and his scenes filmed because of the uproar over him NOT being in there.

We shall see though...
