I've gotta say, that coming from someone who owns over 750-800 albums, I just bought my new favorite album, and it's the absolute best album I've heard in YEARS! I am blown away by the songwriting, playing, and probably the highest production quality I've heard in the last ten years! I cannot give this album enough praise, and if you want the best melodic album you need to check it out!

I remember Andrew giving this a kick-ass review, but reviews and clips just don't do this album justice! The singer/keyboardist makes me want to take a sledge hammer to all of my keyboards and quit playing altogether! He is one of the best keyboardists I've ever heard and it makes me sick with envy.

There's really not one thing to point out over anything else on the album though, and that's a testiment to the what they've accomplished. Every song on this thing kicks ass, and I can't wait to get back to it!

I'm curious to see if anyone else here has it? I'd love to hear some other feedback from you. To me, the album sounds like a mix of Toto, Jack Wagner, Stan Bush, Survivor and...hell, just fill in the blank with someone who kicks ass and that's it!

Track 1 reminds me of Iron Eagle movie soundtrack.

Track 3 and 6 reminds me of Toto.

Definitely a lot of 80s sounds.

Overall I like it better than Corporate Wheel but not as much as the Hugo/Ramos disc.

It was pretty good indeed although, for me, the vocals were the let down on the less contemporary songs.

The music is solid, straight out of the '80s with keyboard washes reminiscent of the last Departure Album - Corporate Wheel. In a similar vein I much preferred the new Ramos/Hugo collaboration but agree that anyone that loves Stan Bush or fondly remembers the '80s will likely love Work of Art - Artwork.

Hmmm....first off, I DO like the music. Jim is right they are good. BUT, that said - I feel the music suffers from what my friend and I call the 'soundtrack' sound. Which is that typical 80s soundtrack style. Especially the first track 'Why do I', wouldn't be out of place in a Chris Columbus or John Hughes movie.

Sounds awesome Andrew, I can't wait to hear what they come up with! I've been listening to this album for the last couple of days now, and I still love it. I do think (and this is coming from someone who LOVES over-produced albums), that it could have been a little more raw and sounded a tad better. Overall though, this thing's smooth as butter!

Who cares!? The music is good. You're discounting and discrediting the music because it falls into a stereotype that's unwarranted.

I did the same thing with an album I heard awhile back... I truly expected it to suck because not only was there a stereotype attached to it already, but the last album sucked horribly. But I checked it out and I actually like most of it now. Its sounds more "club" and I generally don't listen to that crap (oops... stereotype... sorry, my bad), but hey... you like what you like, right?

It truly is a great album! I've owned the album since early summer and there are no "filler" songs on that thing what so ever! My favorite song off the album is "When Ever She Sleeps".

Andrew, you say there is new material coming next year from WOA? That is awesome!

Sweet! I'm glad you're liking it. I've been listening to it for three days now, and I absolutely LOVE it! I know this sounds corky, but I hear a lot of Jack Wagner's vocals in his vibrato. These songs are 1000 times better than anything Jack's written though. I really do hear Lukather and Stan Bush in there too. I think the keys have Stan written all over them. I can't give this thing enough praises.

I think my next purchase will definitely be the new Jamison cd, and I can't wait to get a copy of it! I bet that album's going to be one of the best releases of the year!

As for the production, it's supposed to sound like an 80's album....I don't think they made it with any intentions of sounding "current" or making inroads into the modern music landscape. I see it as just sort of an homage to Toto but with new tunes. Usually I'm not into stuff that's so blatantly derivative, but I think they've done it really, really well on this album, and since Toto is no more, it's kind of a nice thing to have around.
