Why is Steve Perry always alone in public ?

Never has a anyone with him. Never sighted in public with a presumed girlfriend since Sherry. Anytime that I can think of where he was in public just getting food and gets a photo snapped by someone with a cell or something he is always alone. Seems like he lives a very isolated life if true.. Price of fame.... No thanks. I really dont want to be nosey about his personal life its just that I find my self wondering if that is the price he has to pay for his fame..
No ex-girlfriends, old high school chums have ever said much of anything about him to the media and it seems he would be at high risk for some ex to write a book to cash in on his name. Since he is so secretive and people are so nosey it really shocks me that he has been able to keep the lid on so tight..
I must make everyone he meets sign an NDA. Maybe he caries around a 12 pack of Nda's in his wallet !

Good Morning, LD....
Wow...yeah; you're right!
I've thought the same thing, too.....I think it IS the proverbial "Price of Fame"....a helluva price to pay, if you ask me...
In the World of HollyWEIRD, to be able to keep yourself in your own "Fort Knox" is highly unusual....

he's not always alone in pictures; you just don't know who he is with.

Non-Disclosure Agreement.
Personally, I'm inclined to say it's loyalty that keeps people quiet. You can put the fear of god into people legally speaking and they'll still spout, because no one likes being threatened, but for that kind of silence, you need to inspire loyalty... and be discrete yourself.

I don't believe he lives an isolated life. The band was huge in the '80s. He's not being followed around non-stop. Everytime I've read in an interview he seems to live a full life. He talks about all the bands he checks out in LA, all the places he loves to travel to, etc, the musicians he stills gets together with. So I think that comment is overly dramatic. It seems to me he lives life to the fullest.
Now, as far as relationships, I do find that strange and have always wondered about that. He does seem to be a loner in regard to relationships. He seems to have issues there. And I keep reading that he has a daughter and grandchildren in either North or South Carolina. Some merchant or somebody in that state blogged that he was honored to meet Steve Perry with his daughter and grandchildren at some event. I always thought that was just a rumor but maybe that is true.

The existence of this thread in the first place says otherwise.

I wondered, about that also. Why is he always alone? 'No man is an Island' right? I know there were groupies; it is really odd we haven't been swamped with hundreds of tell all books of the month. No man has that much control over other peoples actions:( unless he can actually cast spells over others rendering them deaf, dumb and stupid) and I seriously doubt Perry has that kind of power over everyone who was or is in the know.

[/quote] It, was stated in the BTM video that he was painfully shy at one time. Maybe he still is to some degree, shy people tend to be very private with their lives;not open to others but very open with close friends and family. Shy people are easily hurt and being tortured by the media back in the days when he was at the top probably didn't help matters much. I don't think he ever thought of himself as attractive as much as we fans did and still do. He still seem very insecure in some of his photos even the more recent ones also.

Perry does not have a daughter, nor a son for that matter.

Sweet, I'll have him stop by and throw down some tracks for me while he's here! Wait a minute...maybe he's my wife's real dad!??

7, Wishes- Yes he does have a daughter. There have been pictures of her with him. Randy Jackson said she was at many of the ROR concerts . The pictures are on the internet.

Supposedly she lives in Fayetteville, North Carolina, if it's true. If it's not true, maybe he will adopt me, so he will have someone to leave all his money to.

I saw some photos of her somewhere on the internet.
Allegedly her name is Shamila, and she has long dark curly hair. She was at some movie Premiere with SP I think.
I don't think he leads a lonely life for one minute.
I just think he knows the price of fame and has become very adept at guarding his privacy because he does not want his private life to become public. Which is fair enough I think.
He could have a whole Harem of women sharing his home for all we know.
[And each woman has a different breed of pet cat.

Susie P, if you're talking about the Monster movie premiere, it was incorrectly stated he was with his daughter, but that wasn't his daughter. It was Patty Jenkins, director of Monster. Or maybe you're speaking of a different movie -- I will take that back. After looking on the internet there is another photo at the premiere with him with a curly-headed woman that's not Patty Jenkins.

I saw the ones with Patty Jenkins, so it's not them I mean.
Oh my memory!
On the thing I saw there was a page of pictures and I had to scroll right down the page to see Shamila. It may not have been at a Premiere:?
There must be some loons on here who know what I'm talking about.
When I got internet access a few years ago I had a peek at several Perry related sites, but I felt most at home here at Melodic Rock, so this is the only one I visit now. And I didn't save the pics I saw, sorry.
I saw these pics on another site. May have been called Perryville?
The girl I saw had long dark, shiny, curly hair.
If we hang on I'm sure someone will remember these pics and may even be able to post them.
I'm sure I saw them and I'm sure they weren't of Patty Jenkins.

You don't have to be a loon to look up Steve Perry and Monster Premiere.......(SPOON, perhaps)

Susie P, I had gone back and re-edited my response to your post, but I guess it was too late and you were already responding to mine. I went on the internet and saw the photo of the curly-headed girl you were talking about. Thanx.

Ya got me there.
But you know what it's like, you vaguely remember seeing some photos posted up but can't remember exactly where you saw them or where Steve was posing for the pictures.
Weird thing is, the girl's face was clear in my mind.
The site I saw the pics on seemed pretty certain the girl is his daughter, and her name is Shamila [pronounced Shameela] - my memory of all that was clear.
Maybe it's my age , seeing as I was nuts already, then?

Susie P, everybody is nuts, just different degrees.
I always remembered a few years ago in an interview Steve P, did where it was discussed that Patty Jenkins was incorrectly identified as his daughter. He was asked if he had any children, and he said that he wouldn't have a private life if he discussed it. If he doesn't have a daughter, I can't understand why he just wouldn't say, I have no children. That's taking private to a whole new level not to state he doesn't have children if he doesn't have any. So that led me to think he did have a child. When asked about his love life, he said he was single, so he answered to a degree a personal question.

well i have to say that some pictures are readily available to put all over the net and then there are those pictures like those at the bottom which deserve a bit of disgression.

Yeah, I know, I was not the person who took these. They've been posted. I don't think Steve is hiding or disavowing his family. .. He just doesn't talk about his private life. That's his business of course!!

Gunbot, it crossed my mind, so, no, it wouldn't surprise me. Sorry, Perryloons. Or maybe he's just a loner regarding relationships. That could be. But he's definitely liked women in his life. That's for sure.

I think Perry isolates himself because he is a tormented soul. A lot of artists who are driven to prove their worth are running from inner demons from their childhood. When Perry said "I've never felt like a part of the band" during the VH1 BTM interview, I believe he was revealing something deeper that was going on inside himself. He is a loner type. He didn't feel like he fit in the band, because he probably doesn't feel like he fits anywhere. If he did, he would have people around him... and he would probably be performing too.
I'll bet there are people on this forum just like Perry. A lot of people who spend time on online forums are people who isolate.
