OT: Just Watched Foreigner "Private Sessions"

Just got finished watching this show on A&E and came away VERY impressed with Hansen. I am a HUGE fan of Lou Gramm, and believe that he was one of the great melodic rocks voices, EVER! That said, this dude Hansen sounds remarkably like Gramm, on the classics! It's almost like he's channelling Lou, while singing those songs. Is Mick Jones the only original member of Foreigner left, or are there some others?

The only member other than founder Mick Jones who has been with the band for awhile now is Thom Gimbel (guitar, flute, sax). He's been with the band since the 90s. The last original members before that were Rick Wills (bass) and Dennis Elliott (drums) back during the "Inside Information" tour in '87.

I think Dennis Eliot did the reunion tour in '93 also. I think the keyboard player (Jacobs?) has been with them as long as Gimbel.

Edit: I see Jacobs is no longer with them.

It is so weird how someone can sound so amazingly like another singer.

Yeah, I caught it too...wish it was on a little later in the morning or afternoon for that matter. My main thing is that I want to know how serious they are in regard to "Too Late" being a taste of what the supposed new album will be considering this has been in discussion for a while. I'm still waiting to hear about and see their Sound Stage performance. It sucks that Jason Bonham's not playing drums with them anymore, but I've heard that their new guy is decent enough. I do like the keyboard player they have now - at least in regard to the two TV appearances I've caught from them...he seems to be higher in the mix with his gear.

So if you had your choice, who would you pick for a tour mate?

I hope so too, that'd be an awesome show. We'll have to wait and see. The last time I saw them was during the triple bill with Def Leppard and Styx...although they still put on a great show for a limited time slot, the sound guys couldn't get their shit together and Hansen was getting pissed at 'em.

Here they are doing a medley. Hansen sounds pretty good. The music sounds so ON that I'm curious if they're playing the studio tracks.

Check it out, whadya think?

Though I have a hard time buying into what seems to be "The Mick Jones All Star Band Plays Foreigner" as Foreigner

Hanson does sound like Gramm circa '93-'96 w/out being a total clone.

John- I think you are on to something. My tour would be Perry,Gramm, Dennis DeYoung and Jimmy Jamison. Anything good going on for Tom Brady ?

Saw Foreigner last year, it was an awesome show. Hanson ran out in the audience, and JAson was great on the drums. Not only did Hanson handle the Gramm songs, but the Zep songs were spot on too.

I'm not sure about studio tracks, but I noticed their keyboard player (haven't memorized his name yet) wasn't playing with his full rig (usually an "L" shape). Aside from that I noticed Hansen had Juke Box Hero down a half-step (I believe) although still impressive -- everything else was in their original keys. My only problem with the new drummer is the "standing"...don't remember Bonham doing that, but otherwise he's keeping time and doing the right hits.

The keyboard player is Michael Bluestein and drummer is Bryan Head (actually the person who posted that YouTube video)....and just for the record, he normally doesn't "stand" all that much during Foreigner shows. He can match Jason almost note for note, but is still working on developing the power and passion that Jason has.

No, but who said that you had to marry it to hit it? The latest rumor is that they are engaged. Not that I give a shit about that. Fuck love...I'm all about football  I just need Brady, and his snapped in half knee, to get back on a football field!
