OT - A few things *I* would like to complain about.

I'll preface this by saying I'm in no way an expert on this stuff. Just a few observations.

1) As I stated in another thread. People shouldn't pay for education(taxes) at a state and local level if they have no kids in the system. That money should be allocated elsewhere, or even put back into their pockets(as another member has suggested). If that money was routed to, say, healthcare, medicare, or some other service that the persons used, or would soon use....then the money would somehow benefit them. It is silly for 70-year old people to pay for the current generation's education.

2) This more of an excercise rather than a suggestion. Next pay period, track your pay to taxes ratio. Take your GROSS pay and start tracking all the taxes you pay...(not only the ones ON your stub, but the ones you pay every time you buy something with that week's money. Then subtract the tax total from your gross....you'll not only be surprised, you'll be

3) I don't know about anyone else, but I paid ALOT of unneccesary fees while in college. Technology fees, library fees, lab fees. That weren't included in the tuition. I also paid some sort of athletic fee. I wish I had a bill from school cause there were a few weird ones on there that I can't remember right now. Anyway, some of these things(like #1 above) were being paid by students who weren't even in those areas of study. I was paying lab fees when I wasn't taking a lab science course that semester.

4) Ever try to get a copy of an accident report, or a BCI check? Ever have to pay? Why's that? We pay taxes, right. Shouldn't they be free? I pay state and town taxes, yet when I want to get a copy of an accident report I have to pay $3, BCI - $10.

5) Sales tax on USED merchandise....more precisely....a CAR. I think that only the ORIGINAL owner that buys the car off the lot should have to pay this tax. Cause If I buy a car off someone for $1000, the registry is gonna base my tax on some sort of BOOK VALUE. We are taxed to death people.

6) All this arguing about Capital gains tax, taxing people over 250,000. Why can't they just slash government, so the taxes don't need to be that high? We have Saudi paying off our debt. We should stop giving handouts to other countries, and start putting money back into the hands of the people of THIS country. I know there is alot of debate about National healthcare. I'm not sure if I'm against, or for it....I THINK I'm leaning against it. But I KNOW I'd be for National Education. Education should be FREE for americans. I know PLENTY of foreigners who go to school for the bubble because the college wants to appear diverse. So some kid from China, India, Russia goes for nothing, while *I* have to beg, borrow, and steal to go. How fair is that?

I have more, but I'll wait....I'm losing my train of thought....

At ASU we have to pay for season tickets to the games, for one. I don't EVER attend our games. But I am charged for them.

They once sent out a poll asking if we thought freshmen should get a free laptop. I said NO! If they are feeling generous with laptops they should give them to those of us who had earned them. Give them to graduating seniors! But truth be told, we would all pay for them, and the school would be using that as a ploy to bribe students to attend. So wrong!

I don't know when you were in college, but the reason you're charged a lab fee is not only for the science lab stuff, but for computer and writing labs as well.
Which sucks because hardly anyone ever used those at my college... ok, except to play pool and foosball in (yeah, that was in there too) at 3am and then check facebook while waiting to give your boyfriend a ride back from Cross Country practice.

Public colleges are bad about random fees. When I transfered to my private college, it was pretty much cut & dry $10k/semester + books. My Astronomy lab fee was $5, but my Field Natural History fee was $25. And it stated on the course description what the extra fees were for each class. I liked that.

Dude, don't waste your vacation here with this pack of asylum escapees (myself firmly excluded  ). Go out and be with the 3D people. Sniff a flower. Watch a leaf turn. Pet a cat (not to roughly!). Go have some fun bro. We'll wait. 8)
