Perry Stuff

I thought it would be cool to have a thread where people can post their favorite links to anything related to Steve Perry. It can be a song, a video, a review, and article, a fan site, or whatever.

Here are a few of mine for starters:

Collection of Steve Perry high notes:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=51vJElLyOL4

An online petitition to get Steve Perry to sing professionally again (fat chance, but fun to fantasize about):

http://www.petitiononline.com/srperry1/petition.html

Post your links or comments!

If I would ever stop being lazy and fix my laptop I could post the links.

But this is easy. Girl Can't Help it video for ROR concert. (So sexy and handsome. Great song)
Patiently 1978 video. (Steve Perry's voice is absolute perfection on this song and the video of the early years together is cool.)

Yesterday was the 31st anniversary of Steve Perry's first show with Journey.

On October 28, 1977, Steve Perry joined Journey for their first public concert together, in San Francisco.

Deb, great minds think alike.

And you're right on Still They Ride. It's in my top five Journey songs.

For the pure class of it! When it came to great performance videos, Wayne Isham was the best! Directed some of the best videos from the 80s/90s. :) http://www.mvdbase.com/tech.php?last=Isham&first=Wayne

BJG, I've always felt that Patiently was Steve Perry's best vocals just from the standpoint of how pure his voice is on that song. His voice is like Deb said so stunningly beautiful but it's an effortless delivery of the song. And I love the haunting guitar playing by Neal and the piano especially in the middle.

I have another song that emotionally moves me like Still They Ride, which is Why Can't This Night Go On Forever. It's one of my favorite songs and so beautifully sung. I can never find a live video of that performance, just on YouTube with still images. That song moves me to tears.

You won't find one either. Never was done live.

But I agree. I have a witness that can tell you... if that song pops up on an iPod cycle, I gasp and go "Uhhh!" then I zone out while its playing and try not to drive into a tree. Chills, I tell you. CHILLS! (the drumming at the end... the climax part... HOLY HELL!)

Thanks Since 78. I forgot I had found that video when I was looking for a live performance. Actually, Why Cant This Night Go On Forever is currently my number one favorite song by Steve Perry with Journey. I just love that song.

And I agree with you, BJG, I always get major chills and a little teary-eyed.

That performance was my first exposure to Journey. My brother and I were watching the Midnight Special where they aired that clip. We both sat there in awe. I remember I went and bought Infinity the next day. It's thirty years later and I'm still in awe.

This is my favorite version of "Patiently", and quite possibly the best live vocal performance in the history of sound!

"Still They Ride" is my #1 fave with "Patiently" a close second.

Check out the "Patienly" lyrics:

Here I stand so patiently
For your lights to shine on me
For your song inside of me
This we bring to you

In the shadow of love
Time goes by leaving me helpless
Just to reach and try
To live my life
These are my reasons, so
here we stand so patiently
For your song inside of me
For your lights to shine on me
This we bring to you
One, One, in a million

Its ironic that the first song Perry and Neal wrote together describes exactly what we are doing now - "waiting for your song."
