So Whats Going To Happen With Gas Prices In Future?
is the only reason its going down have to do with the election coming up? maybe it does have to do with supply and demand. but what i'm really wondering is it was nearly $5.00 or maybe even more in some places not but a few weeks ago and now its already around $2.00 and still falling in some areas and my big question is the new few months is gas going to stay around the same prices or is it suddenly going to go up to six or seven dollars out of the clear blue.its on a lot of minds just how much gas will be here in the new few months.........

Gas prices will stay down as long as demand stays down.... and the way the recession is unfolding (the layoffs are JUST beginning)... there's gonna be a long spell where demand for gas will remain where it is now or LOWER.
The oil cartels (OPEC, etc) are cutting back production in the hopes of artificially supporting prices.. but that's a fools errand...
When the economies of the world return, and demand increases - so will the price of oil.. and gas will follow.

i've actually been eating three times a day instead of twice a day because the gas prices fell enough to where i could eat a little more.maybe the bastards could keep it at the price its at now and i'd certainly be happy but i know thats not going to happen.after paying rent, bills, auto, etc. and taking care of children and family these oil barons must know that the high gas prices affect peoples budget and their lives.i hear they set a new record in profit this past quarter but its just greed at its worst.

i must admit, i have a gas problem.
i used to blame the chinese. i mean, sweet and sour goes in front of so many things. but they were not the problem.
so i blamed the muslems.
they blow shit up on a whim. how many people are ever gonna question blaming the obvious?
then i blamed the baptists cause they dance standing up and while that makes no sense, i needed someone to blame.
took me a long time to blame myself.
shit, there's a lot of catholics out there looking for blame.

Not so sure, but whatever happens, it's a given that the oil companies will continue having record profits.

I wonder if it's George Bush's fault that the price has gone down?

Gas should be irrelevant. Walk or ride a bike. It's free and great exercise.
The price of gas should continue to drop, based on weakening demand. With any luck, somebody will pass a law to discourage the production of all gas-guzzling and recreational fuel items. I mean really, do we really need Suburbans, Escalades, and Hummers? We could also do without these big boats that crowd and pollute our lakes and rivers.
Drive a hybrid...you'll feel better.

If people want to drive a Suburban, Escalade, or whatever, they should be able to do so. I'm all for driving hybrids but it's not going to solve the problem.

Therein lies the misconception. Hybrids are good for CITY driving, and city driving only.

Hybrids are just another example that the masses are asses! The Toyota 4Runner Hybrid gets a whopping 2 miles more to the gallon than the non-hybrid, and yet dopey Americans buy these things, just because it says "Hybrid" on the side of it! They seem to forget that they would have to drive the thing for about 15 years to make up the price difference!

Oh man for sure. You better be a big-time driver to justify paying the price difference for a hybrid. I don't know how people can be so ignorant.

I said that you would "feel better", I didn't say that is was a smart decision. In the long run, certainly, hybrids will cost waaayyy more and will be worse for the environment. But hey, people feel they are doing their part by driving them.

Not all of us are close enough to our jobs to ride bikes to work. Believe me, if that was the case, I'd be more than happy to pedal my way into work each and everyday! As far as the gas-guzzling and recreational fuel vehicles, people should have the freedom to drive whatever they want. I have a Mustang GT that is my joy car. I have a Nissan Sentra that is my everyday car. Passing a law to discourage or making these vehicles illegal is just another form of communism. As far as hybrids are concerned. Just wait until you have to shell out all that money to replace the battery! You'll be feeling "REALLY" good then!

Well, for one....when the battery goes, it could cost upwards of $3000 for a replacement..... And there goes the tax credit. Cancelling each other out.

How is that bad for the environment?

I don't know about your environment, but if I ever had to come up with 3 grand to replace a battery....mine wouldn't be too pretty....

Battery recycling, higher long-term maintenance costs, unknown lifespan and unknown replacement parts costs, etc. They are likely to be much more expensive to repair in the long-term which means that people are likely to get rid of them sooner. Unknown resales value of a car that's very expensive to repair means they hit the junk yards sooner.
But, like I said, when you have one you'll "feel better" about your contribution to the environment.

For real, I've always thought Hybrids were for suckers...why not just drive a (
pause...wait for it) SMALLER CAR!
And yes, Americans should be able to drive what they want...but OTHER Americans should be allowed to chastise them for their reckless decision to do so.
Since when can we no longer suggest what
should be done in an effort to conserve? Christ, if these same conservatives were around during WWII they'd have told Roosevelt to shove his "gas and food rationing" up his ass! Last time I checked, we were at WAR (and whether or not oil is the REASON, it's certainly part of the equation- there's no denying that) so...in a WAY - if I choose to NOT drive a big ass gas guzzling tank, ain't I actually SUPPORTING THE TROOPS????
There- end of tirade. And sorry John- I know that rant had nothing to do with your precious post. Not trying to drag you into my ramblings...just digressing.

In Cali, hybrids mean a free pass on the diamond lane, but when that battery goes, I'm thinking major dough to replace it.
