Hi there - I noticed in a Sydney street magazine (The Brag) last week that Journey were listed as a 'tour rumour'. This is very exciting, as they have never been here before, BUT does anyone know if this could possibly be true?

I figure they'll probably get around to the Phillipines at some point, and have daydreamed that they might tack on Oz while they are at it.

Did you ever see BSG when they were touring (If you're a Little River Band fan, that is)?

No, but my mother remembers various members of LRB playing at her high school dances when they were in other bands in the sixties. Actually, I'm pretty sure I got dragged along to a few very early LRB gigs when I was a kid. I know I used to own around a dozen taped bootlegs of their early gigs, circa '75, '76 that my uncle had made.

Shit! You've just reminded me - I used to own a t-shirt from the 'Whispering Jack' tour signed by JF and all his tour band - no idea where the hell that went!

Arnel in a transcript of his visit on his site recently mentioned that there will be possibly three concerts in Australia.

Pretty sure it was Zoot and The Twilights (Shorrock's old band) - I'll check later. And yeah, JF is one hell of a singer; I pretty much grew up on his voice.

Asia tour Feb - April was mentioned in the story about Arnel visiting the PI president ...

Well, seems to me the logistics of an Australia 'tour' is much easier when an SE Asian Tour is in place...

The band has a desire to play here, but no promoter will put up the money being asked. The band simply have to play small club/theater shows as they really were never huge here. A cult act really.

Would be good, but I have said all along that I don't believe it will happen.

How big is The Forum in Melbourne? On the BSG DVD, it looks small but cozy.

They'd be be fantastic as part of the Big Day Out, but the timing is probably all wrong (and the money is still an issue I guess.)

Ah well, I can hope and dream... and strongly suggest to any of their 'people' reading the boards that maybe a few intimate gigs to devoted fans is exactly what they need to reconnect and recharge hint hint hint...

I'll call the promoter the band was last talking to now.

Somehow, given Pete Garrett's current job, don't think that's going to happen But they were a great band to see live, despite Garrett's on-stage epilepsy... er... dancing!

Somehow, given Pete Garrett's current job, don't think that's going to happen But they were a great band to see live, despite Garrett's on-stage epilepsy... er... dancing!

Oh...c'mon now! No band I have witnessed "live" has matched their energy. PG was, is, and will always be one of my all-time favs because he had an ORIGINAL persona / voice and wasn't afraid to say F@#$% You...this is WRONG on political and social topics of the day.

What a GREAT great band Midnight Oil was. Truly originals.

Absolutely agree! Like I said, a great band to see live - hell of a lot of energy and passion, and some fantastic music. Personally, I wish Garrett hadn't joined the Labor party, because it looks like his political voice has been compromised. Maybe he just got more conservative as he got older, but... I hate to say the words 'sold out', but I kinda wonder...

Perry was much bigger with Street Talk (and Oh Sherrie) than Journey ever were (here in Oz at least).
