OT: Hey Republicans

I'm not sure how Arnold Schwarzenegger is viewed by the citizens of California, but I LOVE THIS GUY! He is such an intelligent guy and I'm disappointed that he isn't eligible to run for president. All I ever hear is that the Republican party has no stars (maybe Jindal), but I think Schwarzenegger is a HUGE Republican star, and it's not because of his acting background. This guy is the guy to have out front for the Republican party. I respect him immensely. I just watched him on "This Week", and the guy just comes across superbly. He even said that his personal belief is that marriage should only be between a man and a woman but that he doesn't believe in forcing his will on the people. He went on to say that he believes the California Supreme Court should reverse Prop 8 (even though he doesn't agree with it). Another VERY impressive thing about Governor Schwarzenegger is his astute understanding of American history. This guy was citing Supreme court cases (unlike another dumbass governor in Alaska), and even talked about the policies of FDR, et al. Really impressive dude. As I recall, the last actor turned president worked out REALLY well. Now if only I could get a petition started to get Arnold to be eligible.

Arnold governs like a Democrat, but calls himself a Republican. Go figure.

He's a great example of how a Republican can get along with a Democrat and work together, because his wife is a Democrat.

I like him a lot, and it's too bad he couldn't become President. I'm sure he could win.

I like Gov. Schwarzenegger, but his position on Proposition 8 is just plain wrong.

The people of California have spoken, and it's an outrage that Schwarzenegger, immediately after hearing that the measure passed, vowed to have it overturned in the CA Surpreme Court. In other words, he is basically ignoring the will of the people.

I didn't see our Gov's interview you are speaking of.

But yeah, what Weatherman said. Our vote doesn't seem to matter. What was the point.

BTW - the people have spoken more than once.

You could vote on whether slavery should be legalized too, but that wouldn't make it right.

I can't find the video, but here is what he said in the CNN interview:

“It is unfortunate, but it's not the end,” said Schwarzenegger of the Prop. 8 win. “I think that we will again maybe undo that, if the court is willing to do that, and then move forward from there.”

The people of CA voted to dump Gray Davis and vote in Arnold. Today, this state is the same (if not worse) shape than it was in when he took over. He has been a complete disappointment.

He can't get anything through the Democrat controlled legislature and doesn't seem to have the balls to take charge anymore.

I live in Illinois, and it is fucked up too... $5-billion behind on current bills. I think a majority of the states are in bad financial shape. All our wealth is being shipped to Iraq, the Middle East, and China. Our National Debt is now $10-trillion which is $69,000.00 per taxpayer.

I agree Voyager. I certainly can't comment on how Arnold governs his state, but I do know that there isn't a state in this country who isn't experiencing all the same problems (financially speaking) that California is experiencing. California is actually affected moreso, because of the endless foreclosures. Foreclosures mean enormous lost tax revenue, and that is something that is tough to forego, during these most difficult times.

Arnold is alright in my book. He's cruising around the fire areas today, like he did during the San Diego fires, taking charge if he thinks things aren't moving quick enough. Prop 8 will get overturned just like prop 13 did a few years ago. All these people bitched about 13 , but then went right back to picking up day laborers at Home Depot, paying illegals to cut their grass and having border jumpers watch their kids. Most Europeans seem have a better understanding of our history than we do. They can look with an unbiased view as we look at it through blue and red glasses. That's why I go to the BBCNews site first when something breaks, so I can get the real story before the left/right slant starts raising it's ugly head and distorting what is actually going on.

This country DESPERATELY needs an unbiased source for news. There is nothing more frustrating to me that almost every news outlet in this country seems to have an agenda. I'm not sure how you separate out a News Director's poltiical beliefs with his or her obligation (which I feel ALL stations should have) to report JUST THE FUCKING FACTS! Let people form their own opinions, based on facts. Rush Limbaugh is a fucking ass and so is Arianna Huffington! Neither of them are journalists, and shouldn't be allowed to speak on the public airwaves.

Overturning gay marriage in Cali is not unlike the arbitrary way the Nazis separated individuals in Germany...

Jane Elliott is the queen of descrimination....

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jane_Elliott

"....Whether she planned the exercise previous to April 5, 1968 or not, on that day she implemented the exercise (also called an “experiment”) for the first time. Steven Armstrong was the first child to arrive to Elliot’s classroom on that day, asking why King was murdered the day before. After the rest of the class arrived, Elliot asked them what they knew about Negros. The children responded with various racial stereotypes such as Negros were dumb or could not hold jobs. She then asked these children if they would like to find out what it was like to be a Negro child and they agreed.[2]

On that day, a Friday, she decided to make the brown-eyed children the superior first, giving them extra privileges like second helpings at lunch, access to the new jungle gym and five minutes extra at recess.[2] She would not allow blue-eyed and brown-eyed children to drink from the same water fountain.[4] She would offer them praise for being hard-working and intelligent. The “blueys” on the other hand, would be disparaged. She even made the blue-eyed children wear crepe paper armbands.[2]

At first, there was resistance to the idea that blue-eyed children were not the equals of brown-eyed children. To counter this, she used a pseudo-scientific explanation for her actions by stating that the melanin responsible for making brown-eyed children… also was linked to intelligence and ability, therefore the “blueys” lack of pigmentation would result in lack of these qualities.[2] Shortly thereafter, this initial resistance fell away. Those who were deemed “superior” became arrogant, bossy and otherwise unpleasant to their “inferior” classmates. Their grades also improved, doing mathematical and reading tasks that seemed outside their ability before. These “inferior” classmates also transformed – into timid and subservient children, including those who had previously been dominant in the class. These children’s academic performance suffered, even with tasks that had been simple before.[4]

The following Monday, Elliott reversed the exercise, making the blue-eyed children superior. While the blue-eyed children did taunt the brown-eyed in ways similar to what had occurred the previous Friday, Elliott reports it was much less intense. At 2:30 on that Monday, Elliott told the brown-eyed children to take off their armbands and the children cried and hugged each other. To reflect on the experience, she had the children write letters to Coretta Scott King and write compositions about the experience....."

Indiana has its problems but it's not true that there isn't a state in the country that isn't experiencing all the same problems. Governor Mitch Daniels has been running a surplus in the state's budget and was re-elected easily in the election earlier in the month, including being voted for by lots of Obama supporters. The unemployment rate in Indiana is lower than other midwestern states. So, fortunately for us, we will feel the effects of the national economic problems but Daniels has done things to soften the blow a bit unlike most of the other states in the country.

That last statement is ridiculous. This is a free country and, as far as I know, neither of them claim to be a journalist. Limbaugh's show is an opinion show, just like Beck, Hannity, Colmes, etc.

Yeah...every bit as ridiculous as that windbag Limbaugh and that big mouth Huffington. Listen, not everything I say is meant to be taken quite so literal. I realize that it's a free country, blah, blah, blah. My larger point is that we deserve some media that doesn't have an agenda, let along the extreme agendas of Rush Windbag and Arianna Blowhard!

Huffington, as far as I'm aware, makes a few guest appearances on cable shows, and is NOT on the public airwaves.
Limbaugh on the other hand, is another matter entirely.
He parades himself as "America's newsman" and is syndicated coast-to-coast mostly on NewsTalk formats on the public airwaves.

Anderson Cooper has been about as milquetoast as they come...just like Blitzer, Russert etc.
Lou Dobbs, if anything, yields to the right, not left.
Rush and Hannity are in the business of advocating ideology...HUGE difference.
Stop pinning the GOP's failure on boogeymen rather than its own policies.

Geez!!!!! Biased news has been going on for maybe 30yrs. TV papers and radio have their agenda. So turn them off. I think legit news ended with Huntley, Brinkley. Get your news from many sources. NEVER let ANY gov't, whether now or 10 yrs down the road ,have anything to do with censoring what we see, hear or listen to or we might as well live in Putinville USSR. If you get your news from only one source you are a dumbass!
