I didn't notice THAT. Looked to me like he was just trying to keep up, being his first live performance. It could be because we've seen Rolie's "This guy's fucking up our band" look so many times that anything other than that looks like something else.
Don't get me wrong. If I had to choose between the two, I'd choose Rolie every time. Cain is a fine musician and writer, but Rolie was the better keyboard player/organist and singer and Journey had a better sound because of it.
The argument that Cain brought success is speculative at best. With Rolie, they may have had their first #1 song or a series of them. Again, speculation.
